    I think it's pretty heartless how people rag on early VU albums... it's pretty evident they were still learning how to play their instruments. Besides the band had no freewill to do as they pleased because Andy Warhol was calling all the shots and made them comply with weird things like having the daughter of an ex-SS officer sing vocals.

    People should focus on their great works like Squeeze where they could write and proficiently play good 3-minute pop songs and had the autonomy to do thing like tell Mo Tucker to leave the band (though I have to say her second band Yo La Tengo is pretty good... her drum playing and singing really improved).
