Dude don't worry about it. Face value is never what you pay on ticketmaster anyways. I would have paid way more than that to go to that show. It was seriously the most energetic, exciting and fucking insane show I've ever seen. I got a nosebleed and nearly lost my glasses.

It's a hard thing to explain to an outside observer, but the respect you find between a group of people beating the shit out of each other can be inspiring.

I'm going to actually go see Dream Theater/Crimson ProjecKt, unlike all the other concerts I said I was going to and then couldn't because I can't afford tickets.

This was really cool. It was in a small rock bar and it was completely sold out. The average age was probably 35. There was a terrible generic chug-core opener, but then Argus took the stage and sounded fantastic. Sounded better live than on CD, and the vocals were especially good. They said it was the biggest crowd they'd ever played for in Pittsburgh, their home city (not their biggest crowd period though...they've done big European festivals). The singer looks like Messiah Marcolin and sounds like Robert Lowe, and the band has some very Candlemass-sounding parts, so that was pretty cool. They also sound like Slough Feg at times, which is funny because the lead guitarist looks a bit like Mike Scalzi and was wearing a Traveler T-shirt.

Dream Death sounded exactly like they did on their 1987 album, down to the murky bottomed out sound. They played over a dozen songs, including many I didn't know from their demos before and after their full-length. Some balding guys definitely recognized every song though. They played one new song too, which had kind of an experimental bent. I guess they're back for real.

I've got Regina Spektor and Faith No More in July, La Dispute in September, and Devin Townsend's Retinal Circus in October. If I can afford it I might spring for *shels in July as well.

Refused the second night was basically the same as the first night, except played The Slayer instead of Life Support Addiction. Still super awesome.

One frustrating thing is that when I bought tickets it said I could ONLY ship to my billing address. Since I have no cards that have my current address as a billing address, I had to have my ticket sent to my dad's place in Minnesota, so I hope it eventually makes its way back here.

1:15pm on the day after Van Halen. My ears are STILL ringing. Eddie shredded my eardrums to pieces, and it was awesome.

It's tinnitus, not really much to check out. I fucked my ears up and I have to deal with it. Astonishingly it's not gotten any worse over the years despite the amount of gigs I go to.

Yeah, it's also so quiet I barely notice it unless I've just been to a gig or club (like everyone else) or there is no background noise at all.

I know I'm gushing, but I really think he laid down the best guitar solo I've ever witnessed. It was 10 minutes of just amazing.

    Ringing improving, but still there.

Yo, gonna be at a baseball game until the evening but I'll see. I would recommend checking out the Moore/Zorn show as well, with the expectation that it will probably be avant-garde as fuck. The opener is someone doing a poetry reading and they are serving free beer by some local brewery. It is also right down the street from your domicile.

ALSO, Wilco and My Morning Jacket have both announced Brooklyn shows in July and August, respectively, with Lee Ranaldo's band and Shabazz Palaces opening, respectively. Cannot fucking decide which one to go to since I can't really afford to buy tickets to both on the same day. Probably MMJ since I've never seen them and have seen Wilco 5 times.

The Moore/Zorn shit will probably be cool, but im not sure if it'll be $25 cool. Plus Buke and Gase are playing BamCafe on Friday @ 10. Part of a festival so $45, but i kinda dont care. They are fucking amazing

The festivities on Sat begin at 10, will go till midnightish I assume. Lol I'm seeing a fuck ton of shows in May, many of them no cover, all awesome. current count is 12

Nels Cline, Tim Berne and Jim Black on Monday the 7th. highly recommended. HIGHLY
