After 5000+ posts, it's time for a new thread. It was getting cluttered and noobs might get intimidated with trying to read up on everything. Any links that you think are important can go in this post here, so any newcomers can get quick answers to the questions we hear all the time in this thread. Just PM me with the link and I'll add it. I lost about 40 pounds on the meth diet, but I still have a long way to go, especially considering I just quit stimulants. Saw the doctor today and he told me to eat less meat and eat 5 small meals a day instead of 3 big ones. And to exercise frequently. Luckily I know a ton of calisthenics from football and wrestling in high school, so I know how to exercise and lose weight. The difficult thing is going to be actually doing it.
it's kinda sad to see the old one die though. I just got back from a decent chest & tri workout. I love weighted dips.....hell yeah. @bret: what/when contest are you aiming for?
two t's cuzzzz plan would be to compete first in April 2011, with hopefully several shows all within a time period of a couple of months
Damn Brett keep up the good work. Your Delts are huge. Can I oil you up before the competition and/or make love to the arches of your feet?
will jogging (not running; like 5mph) 3-4 miles every other day (eventually every day) do anything in terms of burning off some fat? or would i have to be running hard to get any decent results i say jogging because whenever i 'run' & go say 7mph+ i fuck my knees up badly for some reason. i know running is more about time than distance and i wish i could go harder but my body really hates me.
I'm guessing that it's more important to monitor your heart rate--get it up to about 70-80% of your maximum heart rate (220 minus your age) and keep it there steadily for about 20 minutes or so, with a warm-up and cool-down period. Probably if you went longer it would start burning more fat. It's supposed to be easier on your knees if you run faster than jogging, but I suppose it depends on your shoes, your weight, and your body structure, too.
This. Fat burning is actually dependant on your blood lactate levels but unless you want to go through a set of lab tests its better to use your heart rate. Most people are in fat burning stage at around 130-150 bpm upwards and it can take periods of longer than 30 minutes to actually get there depending on your metabolism. If you aren't that fit then you don't need to run that far. If you're really serious about losing fat then cycling is pretty effective for people with knee issues
What if you're already pretty thin and want to bulk up? I just started working out again about 3 weeks ago. I'm currently 6'2" and about 173lbs.
Eat. A lot. Even when you don't want to. Aim for 175 grams of protein per day. Pay attention to nutrition labels.
Right on. I just got some protein drinks that I'm going to start taking. So much of the stuff I've been reading has been saying to eat so much that I don't know if I can keep up. Eating 3500 calories a day is a lot and I don't know if I can afford to buy that much food!
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c99fKwte_-4"]YouTube- Logan Lacy 1008 lb Squat, and Puked[/ame] well that was pretty epic
I put this off for five months and haven't actually started yet, but I'm starting (srsly) once I get back from Pittsburgh on 6/29. My target weight by the beginning of September is 150 lbs. During these two months, I'll be drinking a third of a gallon of whole milk a day and taking whey, creatine, fish oil, and a multivitamin. Hopefully, by the end of all this I won't be such a skinny motherfucker anymore.
How long do you think is a reasonable time frame to lose 15-20 lbs. while sacrificing as little muscle as possible? I'm trying to do it over about 3 months. My problem with dieting in the past is I get too impatient and starve myself and then get really weak and gay, so this time I'm trying to fix that.
Progress: Not much progress since last time, but hopefully by the end of The GVT program I'm doing toward the end of July I will see some noticeable gains. Day 14 of no meat consumption, still going strong.
Usually 8 weeks on, 2-3 weeks off. I stick to monohydrate, about 4-5 grams a day. Edit: I also forget to take it 2 days a week on average, so i don't know if I'm using it to full advantage.
Joe looking good I've started fast pace walking/ jogging pretty much everyday now for the past two weeks on the tredmill for about 30 mins and follow up with some yoga to cool me down. I also bought some 3lbs weights to start toning up my arms. I'm really hoping I can jog for a longer time than fact pace walking. I've also quit fast food, soda, going out to eat ( im going broke) I need to shed off some pounds, I've noticed that my fat is going straight to my chest and and lower stomach a bit and its just becoming a hassle and more than likely will lead to some health issues which I want to cut out asap. My goal is to lose 20lbs >.> which I don't know how hard its going to be but I'll try. anyways wish me luck.
I need help from the deadlifting guys. I'm having trouble keeping my back straight or arched, even on what I consider lighter sets. I can squat down to the bar pretty low with my legs, but I feel like even then my arms aren't quite long enough to wrap around the bar without bringing my shoulders slightly forward to grasp it. As a result, I think my chest comes down a bit and my back rounds. Do you guys have trouble reaching the bar comfortably or is it something I'm doing wrong? Maybe I should lower the weight. Also, does anyone have workouts they feel are terribly inconsistent? Depending on how I'm feeling, my chest workouts can be drastically different from week to week in terms of my energy in getting out reps. I never know if I'm going to have a great or terrible workout, and I don't really have this problem with my other body parts. On the plus side, I had some guy ask me today what exercises I did to "get my arms so big." I was like, ok you're on my good side, I'll talk to you now!
This is me, but i'm currently a senior in engineering, so my stress level is insane, and my nutrition and sleep schedule suck. He wanted to nail you.
This is my first ever try with creatine, I did 4 weeks on, now 2 weeks off, then again 4 weeks on. I gained a good 10lb in the 4 weeks, so I guess it wasn't all wrong
Ha, I thought I was the only one. For the life of me I can't remember to take the shit. I'm cycling off it now.
im considering it. The only Pre w/os that have worked for me are NO xplod and jack3d. Currently working on a big thing of superpump250 that is doing nothing, although it does taste great.
Anyone got any killer breakfast whey shake recipes? Right now I'm sportin: 3/4 cup oats half frozen banana tablespoon peanut butter 2 scoops whey little bit of water I'm wondering if it gets any better than this, cause this shit is delish.
That sounds pretty good. Instead of using a slightly-thawed banana, you should try using one half of a frozen banana.
