You mean musically inept metalheads? Any real weezer fan I know appreciates Red, since over half the album is gold. Miss Sweeny, The Angel and the one, Pig, King, Spider, The Greatest Man..., Cold Dark World.

BWAH. I hope you've actually listened to those, and if you still don't think Red is good, then I really am not sure what to say, except you will never be a Weezer fan, and have questionable musical taste.

When did I say anything about metalheads?

It's amazing how fucking thick headed you are.

For an old fag you really have absolutely no proficiency at the art of typo-exploitation. You have to quote the post so that it cannot be edited.

well, for a lead single this is better than most of Raditude at least!

god damnit, the weezer cycle begins again

    First listen: Sucky

Second listen and every listen since: Pretty damn good! Not great but I like it more than the last two lead singles. Maybe the rest of the album isn't as mainstream pop and this is the most accessible track on there.

If this is the single the album must be absolutely brilliant. We know Weezer always picks the worst song to be the single, and this one is perfectly fine, albeit, a bit unmemorable.

I've never seen so much hate for a new single by an artist I like. Truly unprecedented.

Hope the rest of the album is raw and rockin. I hear it is.

Me: Hate to be "that fan" but will there be guitar solos on this record? And rawer rock than "Memories?"

patrick_wilson: I don't think so but maybe next time.

Red has some amazing songs with no solos so it doesn't mean much.

Epitaph sent out a HQ non-radio rip of Memories on their mailing list.

    [snip]

If this isn't kosher to post, feel free to get rid of it, but since the label sent it out I don't see too much of an issue. I think it sounds a lot better in full quality, there's some awesome harmonies during the chorus.

It was distributed by the label for free, correct? If so, then it's fine.

edit: Thal says that since it was distributed only to people on their mailing list, it is not kosher

I think I would barely notice if an album didn't have guitar solos. I have to make a concerted effort to pay attention to those. Usually I just patiently wait until they're done.
But I haven't heard a single Weezer track since Pinkerton so it doesn't matter anyway.

New song is not a great single but will be a good album track. Unlike Troublemaker and If You're Wondering, it sounds like an honest to goodness album opener.

I really need to catch up on this band. Most of their post-Pinkerton CDs are sitting at the used shop dirt cheap.

i think if Maladroit ended on Fall Together it'd be a much better received album. But damn, do those last 3 tracks leave a bad taste in my mouth. Possibilities, Love Explosion and December are probably two of my least favourite 5 officially released weezer songs (with My Best Friend and Cold Dark World taking up the other spots)

Possibilities is one of the worst songs I've ever heard.

Fall Together is totally unremarkable and fine on the album but as a closer it would piss me off.

Love Explosion and December = good songs.
