I only really listen to the Blue Album, but Pinkerton is a good listen too. Any time I want some fun pop to enjoy, Weezer is usually the way to go. You could say they don't have too much depth, which could be good or bad.
Fuck yeah. BTW, I think you and me will be on the "minority Weezer fans" wagon with their new album. The songs are rocking like Maladroit but with more modern mainstream hooks.
I'm listening to Keep Fishin' and getting a kick out of this thread. Fuck it, I enjoy Weezer. They also get bonus points for being cool enough to make a video with the muppets. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G4mDIpYHxWY"]YouTube - Weezer - Keep Fishin'[/ame]
I don't ever want to hear that song again--one of the few songs completely ruined for me by Rock Band.
there were six or seven bands within my circle of acquaintances in high school, and every single one of them covered "say it ain't so" at one time or another. still love it.
I never liked Weezer, even though by all rights they would seem to fit into the broad outlines of music I find enjoyable. *shrug*
Weezer is probably my favorite band ever. Fucking awesome music. I'm seeing them in September, I will probably cry.
it's not horrible, but it's just as vapid as everything else they've written since rising from the grave in 2000 fucking zombie weezer
Saw them again last night. FUCK YES. FUCK YES. Awesome god damn show. At first Rivers was just singing and running around, pat was on guitar for like half the show for some reason? Some other guy was drumming (who the fuck is this guy?). Anyway, for the important solos weezer grabbed an axe and fuckin' tore it up. soooo goooooddd
He doesn't want to sing and play guitar anymore so he has Pat play guitar now. The drummer is Josh Freese. Great, great drummer. Yeah Rivers chose the best songs possible to solo on although he should be soloing on The Good Life too. Looks like it!! FUCK. YES!!! Dude...I don't know he's letting Pat play, seriously, Rivers is the best guitarist in the band, hands down. Fuckin' Rivers. He's really entertaining to watch when he's just running around with a mic though. I was singing so loud and dancing around I can barely talk today. haha [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aAcQsumerFI"]YouTube - Weezer- Beverly Hills[/ame] rivers whens hes not playing guitar, god. he's so awesome.
pinkerton is pretty much a completely honest and direct musical translation of the very entity of rivers cuomo in 1995 (or whenever he wrote it).
Their debut album had creative energy and some legitimately good songs. I don't think they've written a good melody since then -- on every subsequent album you can just feel the forced attempts to make something out of nothing. I've tried at various points to give Pinkerton another try since so many people seem to revere it, but every time I feel the same way: it's dull and uninspired garbage. The more recent albums are even worse. They have a good energy on stage, though.
I've always avoided this band as it sounded like something i'd probably hate, so I haven't yet heard them properly. I'd like to give them a go, which album am I likely to like the most? The consensus seems to be that their last few albums have been a bit shit, so i'm guessing one of the first couple right?
You can't go wrong with Blue. Pinkerton takes some time to get into and only idiots don't like it. jk doc mccoy
yeah, Blue is pretty much universal. Pinkerton is incredible and even better at some points but people are bitches.
