I think it's funny how in many games from almost any era, sound samples that are frequently used in the game (such as enemy screams) are played at different pitches to make them sound less monotonous. It always strikes me as kind of odd and stupid-sounding :p I was just playing Black&White and the pitch-shifted cries of "Offspring! Offspring! Offspring" inspired this thread.

    Anyone else noticed/annoyed by this?

film scores do the same thing by just playing in a different key. only it's a lot more noticable in a video game, particularly with dialogue.
