:rollin @ that room with the two floor-bots that the demo guy was trying over and over to get past.

Technical question about this game... Was the game developed in an environment that literally limited the the number of colors, sprite sizes, sound capabilities to match those of the NES, or was it simply that the developers, as they worked on the game, would say "No, you can use that color because the NES didn't have access to it." or "Have to fix that song because it has more sound channels than the NES was capable of..."?

EDIT: Also, do these clips have sound? I don't have speakers at work, but if they do I will play again after work hours with my headphones.

the second one I posted has clearer sound w/o floor noise, but both do. Music is GREAT. and for the first, they designed it COMPLETELY with an 8bit dev kit. all tools were old school.

Both of those gameplay videos looked really annoying. Now I remember why I hated Mega Man so much.

It's really funny that after all these years, the Megaman on the "box" still doesn't look anything like the one in the game.

for those that don't "get it", the idea is that it is purposely in a similar style to the covers for megaman 1 and 2.

didn't he get a friend to do it at the last minute or something? I don't recall exactly but remember something like that from the documentary on the GCN Anniversary collection disc.

I'm gonna try and use this game as leverage to persuade my brother to get a Wii or at least split the cost with me on one.

I would buy one for myself if: Squaresoft makes Final Fantasy 14 a SNES Wiiware game.

i feel kind of lame for being so excited about this, when I have the anniversary collection and have never played all the way through 5 and 6.
    oh well.

Just because you never finished every game doesnt mean you can't be excited for it. missing 2 games is nothing
i've only ever beaten 1-3, 6, and 7. I came close to finishing 8 but I just couldnt beat Wily, so i gave up.

I've beaten 2, 3, 4, and 6. I never really got enough time with 5 to actually play the post-game area (I got this cartrige late in my NES days and by then I was playing it far less often), and with 1 I just felt the post-game area was next to impossible at some points without Game Genie.

I was just about to finish 7 again. Now i remember the thing i hated most about Mega Man. The passwords dont save after each Wily level. You have to start from the first level when you play it the next time. FUCK

I'll definitely be getting it for the Wii, rather than the PS3. Horizontal wiimote.

This is going to be the greatest week of DLC ever. Mega Man 9 for the Wii and Moving Pictures for RB2 on the 360.

It will be, but a week or two later.

Apparently, it looks a little bit more "8-bit" on the Wii than on the other platforms if you want that full retro experience, but still looks suitable dated on the others. :D

plus have fun with the dpad on the 360 controller :p, or the analog stick, yeah that'll feel right playing a retro side scroller demanding sharp, instantaneous and unambiguous directional input

just get it for Wii, it's cheaper by a little bit also I think. and you'll get it a weak earlier. wiimote sideways just has that NES feel, plus you can use the classic controller which also has a great d-pad

I bet the analogue stick will still be easier to use on the 360 over the d-pad.

There are also achievements for the 360 version, something that the wii might not have...I dunno.

    and holy it is hard.

i took a look at the challenges. the first ones were "clear the game in 120/90/60 minutes." Now, I'm hoping I'm wrong in assuming that since theyre the first ones listed, theyre the first ones to complete, because I don't know how its possible to do those unless you know the stages inside and out.

Well, Megaman games are pretty straight-forward as far as I know... very linear. I was playing Megaman X today on the bus, I get through each stage faster and a lot better if I don't focus too much. When I get really into it tho it all of a sudden becomes cock hard.

So anyways I don't think you need to know the stages well, unless MM9 has some kind of new aspect that makes the stages something to "figure out" rather than "just do".

I think they'll definitely be the same old "just do" once you know them. The first time I was playing the lava stage I noticed I was running through the beginning while not even looking at the TV :lol

    what?

And as for straightforwardness, theres always little things that you tend to forget unless you've played the stage a bunch of times already, like at some gaps that you jump over, something jumps up from under it, hits you, and causes you to fall. Maybe i just have bad memory?

Eh, you may be right... I played MMX over and over in my youth (youth-er :p) and i guess I have the stages memorized by now. at least Chill Penguin, Spark Mandrill, Sting Chameleon, Armored Armadillo, and Storm Eagle are fresh in memory.

I have MMX: Maverick Hunter on PSP. in the Chill Penguin stage, I noticed that you don't get the dash boots in the same place :x so I read up on it, apparently you get them in Flame Mammoth's stage... I went there, and I didn't get the boots! WTF!

I've beaten Galaxy Man and Hornet Man so far, on the same save file. have a total of 3 lives left, did my fare share of reloading. so while the file says 20 min played, it's more like an hour. Hornet man was a BITCH, fuck. stage and boss

    game rules hard
