No new stuff will be played live. If it were going to be ready in time they'd already be rehearsing. He's just stringing his fanbase along. It's been about four years since I've seen Tool live. It may be time to check in and make sure that their setlist and stage show are still basically the same.
Haha nice. Great article above too. Cause no news is...no news. I'd prefer a new APC album over a new Tool album at this rate.
What would excite me most is more stuff like Puscifer's last EP. New APC or Tool would probably make me pee my pants too though.
i bet the tool album will be sooner than an apc full lenght. but i'm completely excited for some new apc
Good thing Tool albums have such high replay value and longevity. 5 years between albums would be twice as torturous with most other bands.
I would actually consider the article good news. If not for the power slides joke, it was good to hear Maynard talk about how they don't wait, I'm glad they respect quality over fellating the fans.
Maynard and Billy Howerdell (not Satriani as the video says) doing fucking Bohemian Rhapsody: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8L07jzMDvtk"]YouTube- Bohemian Rhapsody by Maynard & Satriani @ the Activision E3 show[/ame]
Haha! Sweet cover. Maynard knows how to play to his fan base. I'd love to hear something new from either Tool or APC. 10,000 Days was a great album to listen to all the way through in the dark, despite being less memorable overall than Lateralus.
fuck yeah.I need something new by APC. in my opinion they seem to be underrated, even if they were quite succesful, . also the way the guitars are (let's say)orchestrated on mer de noms is amazing.especially on The Hollow.i have always been impressed by that
ashes divide performing the prey with maynard: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_S28f-PIyiw&feature=player_embedded#at=56 "I can't be expected to learn Bohemian Rhapsody AND The Prey",and he only sings some backups,he's mostly taking photos and stuff i loled,.also the guy yelling: "Drink some Wine" edit:maybe we should do a separate APC thread now
does anyone else think that is not the most credible of sources in regards to whether or not APC will put something out this year?
well, Howerdel did say that they're working on "something" that should be out this year. that probably means some remixes, live stuff or one or two songs, but still i want something cool from apc. The Noose is one of the songs that really got me into music. btw Tool are playing tonight, let's see what happens...
fuck it seems they played this tonight: Third Eye Jambi (-) Ions Extended Stinkfist Vicarious w/ intro Eon Blue Apocalypse The Patient Intolerance Schism (extended) Forty Six & 2 w/ intro *Intermission* Lateralus Ænema HOLY FUCKING SHIT THIRD EYE!!INTOLERANCE!!FUCK!! wish i could see them
Amazing setlist. Goddammit, I still can't believe I didn't see them in 2006 when they were here with freaking Mastodon.
Great fucking setlist, I think the only Undertow track they played both times I saw them was Sober (which is my favourite song from the album, but Intolerance would have been good). Also: THIRD EYE. I haven't seen them since their European tour supporting 10,000 Days, it sure will be great to have them active and touring again. The first time I saw them was in the Apollo in London and they blew my fucking socks off, absolutely incredible. Helped that I was high as a kite from some weird 'legal highs' my friend bought.
10,000 Days was a bit too artsy for my taste (read: filler). Hopefully the next one is filled up with 80 minutes of epic prog metal, a la Lateralus.
Regarding Maynard's performance of Bohemian Rhapsody: While he does just fine on the song, it's really apparent while watching him sing just how amazing Freddie Mercury's voice really was. Maynard's a great singer and he sounds relatively lame by comparison.
I thought he sounded great until it got to the wackier stuff that's pretty far outside what Maynard normally sings.
They would play a show of more deep tracks now that I don't have a ticket to their next show. Last time they came it was like Greatest Hits: Tool. Now they are like, lets play a bunch of fucking amazing shit. Ass Holes.
There's no way 'prog metal' fits Tool considering the connotations of that term. 'Prog rock' maybe, but I wouldn't consider them a metal band.
