Seems silly to lock threads like this. Kills discussion. http://www.fiveeightforums.com/4-string-bass-pick-me-one-t91903/index2.html
most locks are stupid. apparently it is beyond the mods that if a topic diverts from the original issue it is still has worth and the possibility of productive discussion.
This awesome thread was locked for "trolling" because apparently some new mod didn't get the difference between trolling and sarcasm: http://www.fiveeightforums.com/wtf-is-with-all-these-post-genres-t30788/index.html?t=30788 Also, necromancy is a dumb infraction because it's misused by mods. Plus there's no rule against bumping old threads and, in fact, the rules say to use the search function and start no more than one thread on a given topic.
Yeah that was another thread I thought locking it was kind of silly. imo threads should be allowed to go off topic and people should just be warned or infracted if they break the rules. A "troll thread" is easy to ignore if you don't think it's entertaining; trolling is only annoying when someone is doing it consistently all over the board.
Yeah, I thought that was odd about the one in the OP myself. Especially considering the mods do fuck all in MT the rest of the time.
i wasnt gonna complain (because really, dont we get enough of that?) but I was thinking about posting in there again after I had gone to a local music shop. thanks wogbog and bacong
couldn't agree more with this post. only threads that get seriously out of hand (i.e. personal attacks, actual spam) should get locked in my opinion.
