I just like the guy at the head of the guitar. He's got a great job.

Bought this album last week. Loving it. State of the Art has pretty much the best lyrics ever. The rest of the tracks keep growing on me. Smoke and Mirrors and Giving Me a Chance stood out to me on this particular listen.

So yeah, the gig was short but sweet.

    They played(not in correct order)

    Eyes wide open
    The only way
    Thanks for your time
    Hearts a mess
    Smoke and Mirrors
    State of the Art
Somebody that I used to know
    I feel better
    In your light
Don't worry we'll be watching you(this had the best background film ever, holy shit did it give me goosebumps at times)
    Save me
    Bronte
    Easy way out
    ---

Sadly, no Kimbra at all cause she apparently caught the flu. Fucking BUMMER.
Overall this was my first concert that used lots of sampling and therefore the performance was not that impressive when they were just pushing buttons. Gotye's drum solos - and I would've never though I'd say this ever - were one of the highlights. Nigga knows how to go wild on a drumset.
Pretty much all background videos were cool but the one I already mentioned was out of this world. So fucking moody. My girlfriend liked the one for Bronte best.
Also, there was some neat audience interaction in Thanks for your time(the "oh--OH!" parts got split to left and right side audience) and during Kimbra's verse in 'Somebody' they somewhat turned the music down and I think pretty much every girl in that fucking room sang the lines.
Before Hearts a Mess he asked like "Does someone in here know the album Like Drawing Blood? This one's for you..." and I felt like a fucking king because we were in the clear minority.
Oh yeah, and the set was really short and when he announced that they'd end the show with a soft song(Bronte) a guy yelled "JUST KEEP PLAYING" to which he said "Uh, well we would've come back for an encore but yeah, we can cut the bullshit if you guys like". And so they did. Never seen that happening before.

Somehow I thought I'd be more enticed to dance to songs like The only way and such but State of the Art was the only one where we kinda did. Also kinda disappointing that lots of the background vocals were straight up sampled. The concert didn't fully grab me, it was weird. But cool nonetheless.

weird, very few backing vocal parts were from recordings when I saw him. vocals were the highlight of the entire show, the depth of them rather

Anyway, I think 'Don't worry' is currently my favorite. The guitarist kinda beefed it up a little and the end, it was kind of hynotic. Really cool.

I saw pretty much the same the show last year. Really short set, very heavy on samples; disappointing because Wally's live vocals were amazing, but the whole thing sounded like he was singing on top of Garage Band.
Funny thing: some girl who had just arrived at the show asked me if they had played "Giving Me a Chance" yet, I said no, and ten seconds later the show was over :lol

This was amazing, but the set was too short, as was Kimbra's (4 songs, wtf). Plus there were a whole bunch of dicks who seemed to talk over most of the show, and were obviously only there for the one popular song. >:(

lol @ the last page, are you people serious? You complain about how shitty the radio is and then get mad when good music gets popular? Fuck you.

On a converse note, my one ditzy friend loves the song and bought tickets to see Gotye 2 hours away just because of it. She will surely be bored the whole time until "omg that song <3" comes on.

Ballroom is a more intimate venue with better sound. Also this Terminal 5 show will definitely have more fans of 'Somebody That I Used to Know', than fans of Gotye. That means a crowd full of cellphone filmers and people who scream their extremely unique/interesting sentiment whenever any slight break or quiet section of a song rolls around

    also SNL, April 14th.

I don't get the sad part. It's a soft song and it's good, but it doesn't hit me emotionally. Same goes for the video.

Giving Me A Chance, though, that song I'm like 'Wow'.

I didn't know it was on the list. But I can see that, yeah.

That's the problem with that place though. It's so "mood" oriented, which limits both the selection of songs, and even further limits the selection you'd feel OK with singing.
