There shouldn't be perma-bans.

    Just stick with temp bans, regardless of the poster's "record". A week or more is enough of an annoyance to put somebody in line for a good while. Perma-bans don't seem necessary unless it is to get rid of a blatant troll. Is PIMP B really that much of a plague to the forum?

    I would have posted this in the other thread, but it seems to be locked.

    I agree, a month can sometimes really make a difference too, but any longer is a bit pointless. Never liked the idea of permanent ones though, unless perhaps the whole forum is united in wanting it, but PIMP B is pretty well liked by a decent proportion of the users here.

    Yeah, except that's been proven to be completely false. Ask the people like elmo, ubar, brett that have been repeatedly banned. It doesn't deter them. It might deter a normal user, but the guys who actually get banned consistently don't care.

    I think all bans are ridiculous. What do they achieve? Pseudo justice for the offended minority? Nobody here is terrible enough to seriously threaten or trouble any one else's posting experience. Just learn to get along.

    Agreed, plus we have an ignore list; it's like a ban except in the hands of users. This way I never have to read the posts of Bosk1's Mom, selfconsuming_fire, or Lord Voldemort but they can still continue to post here.
