I've never played the first COD but I enjoyed the second one + the single player of the fourth.

When I said CoD I meant Modern Warfare. I thought the WWII ones were ok.

For all its flaws I still like Modern Warfare for the short but intense single player campaign. Like a Hollywood blockbuster.

The narrative in the game is extremely well done though, even if the story is pretty much shit and the gameplay gets old fast (run, duck, shoot, repeat).

I dunno, CoD just ain't my game. In the campaign I feel like I'm worthless with my teammates shooting down half the enemies and I've given up on multiplayer shooters since Counterstrike.

Assassin's Creed 3 has been officially announced for an October 30 release date.

Liked 1, loved 2, enjoyed Brotherhood, tolerated Revelations. I'm cautiously optimistic for 3, since they (allegedly) have been working on it since 2 ended.

2 and Brotherhood are my favourite.

Revelations was alright. The first person puzzle solving sections were a bit strange though.

Wait, brotherhood and revelations were not 3 and 4? I suppose they weren't announced as such, I always just thought they were.

Were they much different from 1 and 2?

I just started Brotherhood and it feels like playing II all over again. Talk about Modern Warfare syndrome

Na, Brotherhood and Revelations were just further parts of Ezio's story. They seem to add a new number on when there's a different ancestor.

Gameplay wise, they just sort of built on the second one. Revelations didn't add as many new game mechanics as Brotherhood did but it was still enjoyable.

Bortherhood is fucking cool and better than part 2 in pretty much every regard. Haven't played Revelations yet and I doubt I ever will.

I probably would've enjoyed Revelations a lot more if it wasn't for the den defense and first person puzzle bullshit.

Also the lack of glyphs made me :'(

The only thing that annoyed me about Revelations was the fact that your notoriety would increase if you bought a shop. It made it insanely difficult to be stealthy.

Anyone have any success with PS2 emulation? Kingdom Hearts is looking and playing great, DQVIII not so much.

if you've got a neogaf account the pcsx2 thread over there is great. i'm one cpu generation behind from being able to emulate ps2/gamecube so i'm putting that on the shelf for a few years.

Gamecube emulates a lot better than the ps2. Most nintendo products emulate really well.

Got it working quite nicely tonight. Xenosagas I-III, DQ8, Kingdom Hearts and Katamari were all looking, sounding and running great even in full wide screen mode. Those were just the ISOs I ripped myself of the games I own, now I can see what else is out there.

Birth By Sleep is the only hand held one worth playing (until Dream Drop Distance). 358/2 Days had a good story, but it was like 90% filler and the rest is actual plot. Combat was meh. They did remake the GBA one for PS2 with the refine combat system.

Wii also. I've been playing Skyward Sword on my PC. Shit is rendered better than the Wii can and it looks beautiful.

That looks outrageously horrible, fucked up, and awesome at the same time. The beginning made it look like something out of 1995

Bought it and played it last night, but only the first level which was so easy I had no idea what I was doing and passed with flying colours. It was fun I guess, but I can't give any real impressions for a while.

Fucking RROD yesterday. I would have just said fuck it and sold my prepaid ME3 to a friend (the last game I had planned to buy for 360 since I built my computer, fuck Origin), but I use it for media streaming from my computer upstairs to my big screen pretty much every day.

Got a used Gamestop refurb for 130, with a wired controller that I now have for my computer. Works perfectly after I downloaded the Win7 drivers (is not plug and play).

Seems like the soon to be released raspberry pi would be perfect for a cheap emulation system hooked up to an HDTV.

I'm feeling cautiously optimistic with AC 3, mainly because they've been working on this game since the end of AC 2 and because I'm a faggot.

Yeah, but it still feels like the same game. Same gameplay, similar background (Americans vs. terrorists and/or Communist regimes), and the story, while not many people play CoD for it, seems trite.

AC's story is, for the most part, intriguing, and the gameplay is changing to keeps things fresh. And now that Ezio's story is complete, there will be new characters, far different from the last 3 games, as well as new settings.

Don't get me wrong, blowing up terrorists is fun and all, I just enjoy games with a bit more substance.

the story for the AC series has been badly-paced conspiracy theory hilarity ever since the first one (which has a predictable but well-written story imo). but now that they're finally moving on to a different location i'm excited for III.

Story is OK, fighting is MEH, real problem is the weird fucking mix of open world and linearity. I would just lay by looking at the map and holding the buttons down and running around. Fucked up game and loss all interest and direction and shit

I lost interest since the first Assassin's Creed. It just felt extremely repetitive doing the exact same things every time you went to a new city/place. Finding all of the high points, eavesdropping, and making your way to the head nigga in the place to kill him then get a shitton of notoriety and run away.
