I'm playing the demo of Final Fantasy XIII-2 right now. As expected, it's pretty boring and terrible.

i don't know if it was posted before, but this game looks amazing.
The best 3D combined with cell shading, i've ever seen. They aren't far from Studio Ghibli movie quality

I think it looks amazing. Really hope it lives up to expectations. I haven't liked many JRPGs this generation at all and I have a huge itch for a good new one.

This gen of JRPGs has been fucking fantastic..... on handhelds :p.

Anyways Ni No Kuni got some very good reviews out of the japanese press, who in general are much harder on games than the western press.

Yeah there have been some great handheld ones, even some great late-cycle PS2 JRPGs.

the demo of Rage is p cool. i doubt i would enjoy the full game in the long run though, Oblivion and Fallout 3 bored me after like two hours already.

Really only superficially similar to fallout 3, but I got bored of Rage after like two hours of connect the dots.

They would bore you for completely different reasons. I've found that for most people a game like Oblivion or Fallout 3 would bore them because of lack of direction... they have no idea what to do and get bored because of it. While Rage would bore you because despite its illusion of a big open world, its really not open at all and is essentially a corridor shooter (like doom 3) with a pretty landscape to look at between levels.

Rage is the best single player shooter i've played in years. Old school refined fragging glory with the best AI and animation i've ever seen in shooters.
Play on harder settings you cunts. You're ruining games for yourselves.

i love the animation in rage, but the "old school refined fragging glory" was pretty rare in the game tbh. the best levels in the game were those that pitted you against the melee zombie dudes, and those were fun, but the hitscan-assault-rifle-enemy-soldier guys were pure modern boring shooter standard, and the enemy ranks still weren't nearly as varied as in any 90's id game. the driving bits help the pacing but in of themselves were pretty dull as well.

I'm playing the original Legend of Zelda on NES emulator at the moment. How the fuck did people get through this shit back in the 80's? It's impossible.

My same thoughts when I did the same about twelve years ago. If you didn't play it when it came out it's hard to play it without the advancements the formula has received over time.

I mean, it's harder, but come on. The hardest part is finding the next dungeon.

    not really

your sword doesn't swing as much as just stab which makes fighting enemies about 100% tougher since you can't attack from an angle but always have to run straight into them, enemy moving patterns are way more random and they also appear out of thin air very often, hearts are tougher to come by, the dungeon maps are almost useless and, but I'm not sure about this one since it has been too long since my last play, you lose your rupees when you die.
However, yeah, this one's a piece of cake compared to fucking Link's Adventure.

For a NES game Zelda is certainly not hard, by todays standards... yes it probably would be considered hard.... but mostly just because you actually die in it and it doesn't really give good clues on where to go next.

The fact that you can only throw your sword when you have full health, using arrows costs rupees, and that fucking plant boss thing with the 4 heads has no movement pattern whatsoever makes Zelda pretty hard imo. To be fair it does get easier as you progress and get more heart containers, but it was only by chance I found out you could blow holes in the walls with bombs in random places to open new caves and stuff.

EDIT: and the fucking ghosts in level 6, jesus fuck

Got a copy of Ninja Gaiden Sigma. I only played the Xbox version way back in the day, so I've only ever heard about all the additional stuff. The new weapons are pretty sweet. Been using the twin swords and lunar staff, but I just got the flails, so fucking yes. Just as badical as I remember.

Playing as Rachel kinda sucks since the warhammer is awkward as fuck and her move set is small (unlike her titties LOLZ!!11! :hat).

    Also...

I've heard that Ninja Gaiden 3 is slightly more balanced and fair. This is cool with me as the first is kick-to-the-nuts hard and from what little I played of the 2nd, it is rape-to-the-mouth hard.

I have the Gameboy color cartridge for this, and I could never find out where the fuck to go. What the hell do I even do in this game? I always got to several rooms, one would have like bats or some shit flying all over the place and I'd collect the shit they drop when I did manage to kill them, but I'd end up going in infinite circles throughout the first like 10 rooms, and sometimes I'd get lucky and find the dude to buy shit but I could almost not afford anything. Granted, I was like 12 last time I tried playing it. Maybe I'll acquire the rom

From everything I've seen/heard, Ninja Gaiden 3 looks like it's going to be waaaaaaaaaay easier. Looks like a button masher.

So, SoulCalibur V is pretty cool. I'm totally unfamiliar with 3D fighters so I'm having to learn a lot, but I'm enjoying it a lot. I mind the block button far less than in MK series, probably because I also have the option of sidestepping attacks and countering as well.

I'm gonna make tons of racist and sexist characters with the creation tools.

Completed Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 recently for the first time.

Great games. The second one felt a fair bit shorter than the first one though.

I loved the first one. The second one was pretty good, but it was way too easy. They refined and improved the combat, while making the battles easier instead of increasing the difficulty. I should look into the handheld games though. I only played the GBA card-based game (which I didn't like too much).

The second game was definitely too easy. I don't think I died once.

Yeah, I've been thinking of getting the DS/PSP ones. Particularly the new 3DS one just so I don't feel like I bought it for nothing but OOT.

i know what the mission is, but that they made this prompt promoting how hardcore it is is hilarious to me. because you know call of duty, it isn't for the weak of heart, and nothing gets in the way of its controversial poignance. it dares to go where no game has gone before.

it's like when john mccain and sarah palin called themselves "mavericks."

ghillies in the mist (one of the levels in CoD4 single player) is immense, one of my favourite things ever in a game

CoD multiplayer is as fun with a ton of friends as anything else is, but all of your friends play it

these are nice things I have to say about the franchise
