I call bullshit as well. We're forgetting that this was the same guy that was Liquid15 way back when at dt.net.
Yeah, but he also claims that his friend "Bradley" (~Brad~? haha) wrote the infamous "Awake" review, which was written back when Dt.net was still up. It seems like if he's telling the truth that this thing has been going on for quite awhile. There is definitely something more to this story than we are being told. He didn't even mention the fact that he was also Liquid15, which seems pretty important.
cuter than ever Couldn't hear the sound but I will watch it again when I get back home . [ame="http://youtube.com/watch?v=r_F4W16S5vo&mode=related&search="]YouTube - valon[/ame] ??
What's interesting is that the paragraph that delineates the true extent of his satirical ruse, could actually be a rather brilliant piece of Satire in and of itself (and I was actually of the mind that it was until I glanced at the copious length of the post, in which case I decided it was either true, or had so much work invested in it, it deserved to be true) Congratulations on NIDA, that's quite an accolade you've acquired there...
I hope you all realize that it is entirely possible that this guy is still using us as his guinea pigs. Valon may not be real, but maybe Matt isn't either. Hell, we could be living in the fucking Matrix.
Valon played most of the board for fools and is ultimately one gigantic Goading Goat. We are now attempting to decipher whether this admission of Goading Goathood is but another form of goat-goadery.
That was me. I was pretty damn sure it was fake as wasn't realistic enough for me. I've created characters too as I (sorta) write novels, and I've also used the net enough to see some very strange individuals, many of whom share character similarities to Valon, and he was far too one-dimensional, and a lot of the troll-stuff was too deliberate and obviously intended to stir shit, as opposed to being the hallmarks of a disturbed individual. It was amusing to have Valon reply about music as his opinions were hilarious and retarded, but far too unrealistic - you've completely over-exaggerated the character, and what you get him to post isn't overly different or original when you compare him to other people perceived as arrogant on the net (OM, much of the time, although he could be cool sometimes). If what you've posted in this thread is true, then spending well over a year on this, to create what you have, could have been spent better, IMO. I'm also disapointed that ariich allowed someone to intentionally troll the forum, as there were many threads ruined, and I did make my ears bleed by listening to that fucking Christ 0 album just to see if there actually was anything of worth in it, and that pseudo-musical AIDS was way more offensive than anything Valon could have ever posted. Your explanation isn't 100% convincing for some reason, but I'd rather beleive that 1. I was right, and 2. there isn't anyone as dumb as Valon in the world.
I'm not sure, but you're probably the only person that tailors your opinions to suit those of a fictional, satirical persona...
I much prefer his form of dialect to the abbreviation-laden and linguistically inferior version employed by many.
So wait, are we or aren't we in the midst of some ellaborate web/russian nesting doll of lies, fake personas, and social experiments? What's happening? THE TRUTH IS OUT THERE
yea LJS has the rite thght. Imean, y do we all thnk its so ncessary 2 abbrvte everythng? y cnt ew jus spk w/ cmplte words?
who did you have at NIDA? i have a friend there that can tell me if you're full of shit or not (i feel sure that you are)
hahaha, that was great. Nice work, babe. I should send you some flowers for that, no fooling. Damn, you're right, no results. I'm reasoning that it's because my books were published a few years ago and are no longer in circulation. There were search results when they were first published, which was only locally (my father is actually a publisher). And no mate, haha, honest to God, this is all real. I wouldn't I lie about being able to search for my books when it's glaringly simple for someone to uncover fabrications, as you've proved. But hey, believe what you want, haha, I wasn't really expecting this. Sorry, this was Valon and yes, sometimes his viewpoints were adaptable and as I mentioned, I toned down his persona ten-fold on this forums for reasons discussed. You will get more of this type of satire as I will be continuing the website, at least for a little longer. Yeah, that's correct. And the love is two-way, mate. To quote myself: "I couldn't find a more suitable forum for Valon." The original Dream Theater forums was such a classic time for Valon and when I found these forums I felt that, not only do I have history here, but it's so damned commodious for Valon. Oh, man, I absolutely love DT. I was a big "lurker" long ago on the original forums which had such a wide range of personalities and intelligence. It was part how I developed the idea for Valon. Valon's interactions with the virtual environment was only a fraction of the overall project. The predominant expositions were the mockumentaries. This is semi-true. As I recounted, I did have the idea for this character long before I knew of the specific project, but at NIDA we were sometimes dealing with exercises and issues relating to what became my final project. The name literally means someone with great valor. The first dominant characteristic that we had in mind for Valon was that he would literally start fights discernibly and only be interested in victory or the prospect of "winning." So the name conforms well. Hey, it's great that you think I'm still acting, actors get kicks out of stuff like this. Liquid15 was an earlier form of Valon which has been discussed in the first post and subsequently in this post. hahaha. The reactions and interchanges have all but ended, sir. To name a few: Something Awful, Prog Archives, Music Banter, genereic heavy metal forums, ultimate metal forums...I never really had a favourite, exactly. Yes, one or two years, as I mentioned in the first post. haha Bradley doesn't actually post on forums. Liquid15 is just one of a multitude of online screen names I gave to Valon. There is plenty more to the story, as I've mentioned, but only minor details which doesn't hold much relevance. Nice post, by the way. My project consisted of a 30-minute mockumentary and 45-minute lecture presentation. The complexities of Valon (or any human being) would never be completely unraveled from posting for a few months on one forum, if this is indeed where you have formed this opinion. Fine by me, by all means. Cool, what's your mate's name? Ask him to get in touch Kevin Jackson, Tony Knight or Darren G (I can't remember how to spell his last name).
Beautifull *raises glass* a Toast to Valon! *The Texas Pirate! sheds a tear of joy* May he live on forever, in our imaginations, tormenting our other imaginary creations.
I knew Valon was too insane to be real Well played sir, you had me for a while, until I realised you were so damn ridiculous
Nicely done! You had me fooled. I guessed it was a joke account just to wind people up but I didnt realise it was to this extent you had created him! I enjoyed our debates anyway I didnt get chance to read through the entire first post as I am at work but I'll reply once I get chance at home. Im guessing you'll be writing a book about this? I better get a name drop!
But the thing we have to think about now is: Is pretending to come out as a fictional character something Valon would do?
