a friend of mine and i drove from northern kentucky to columbus ohio to see them open for okkervil river, and we got caught in construction traffic on I-75 for an hour or so, and ended up missing their set by five minutes. afterward, we walked around the back of the venue and accosted patrick stickles and his bandmates who were huddled on a fire escape smoking cigs. we had a brief awkward chat in which i told the beard itself that i liked its albums and then proceeded to wander around downtown columbus in the early am with a 40 of budweiser taking in the city.
