well, the controls are clunky and unresponsive(at times) which made me jump to my death a coupla times already. This is by far the biggest gripe I have with it. They could´ve added some more resetting points after you die and some minor things that can ba attributed to it being 10 years old.
Shadow of the Colossus is kinda meh. Yeah, the actual fighting with the Colossi is pretty damn cool but it's the only freaking thing you do(the Lizards and fruits are are a joke). If finding the Colossi would just involve some kind of puzzles or SOMETHING instead of just riding in the general direction of your glowing sword, I'd be a happy camper. When fighting the fifth or sixth one(the bird) and saw the area I was actually hoping for something to do to reach him but no, just some long-ass swimming and then he swipes you up. Huge letdown, the ruins were there for nothing. I think I like ICO better.
Yeah, I get that. It's just that the large, empty world is exactly that and it's just fucking boring and unnecessary. Twilight Princess always got slammed for its lacking overworld but this is a joke. And yes, they are two different games but they're both adventures and while there was a sense of discovery in TP, here it's just "ride to the next location." The other thing that bothers me is the lack of feel of progression. I'm not saying they should have added tons of items etc. but even Journey does it better. ICO worked because the castle was one big puzzle. In SOTC they added a bunch of boring stuff where nothing happens in between the fun stuff.
well I don't get that feel at all. Or maybe I'm just not girly enough to enjoy mindless riding on a horse as much.
meanwhile, Closure is fucking fantastic and should be checked out by all of you. Holy mind-bending puzzles and gorgeous art and music, Batman. For some reason I get an H.R. Giger vibe from it in some levels.

hey so if I'm not a giant anime fag and haven't played any of the SMT games will I dig Persona 3 FES? Everyone raves about all the SMT games and I wouldn't mind a good rpg to chill out to so I might give it a try but not sure if it will be my cup of tea.
Yeah, the only "hardcore" type ones are the main series games... and there are only 2 of those out in the US (Nocturne and Strange Journey). None of the persona games share the same story, they just all have similar themes. If any game balances deep rpg fun with more lighthearted casual bits its Persona 3 and 4, fucking fantastic games... .they just make you want to play.... one.... more .... day. The persona games are really the only "anime" like games in the SMT series, but really thats only in art direction. Like the rest of the series they have darker more mature plots than normal, but balanced out with more slice of life school stuff. So.... yes go for it, I can not imagine you would not enjoy it. Really fun game. One of the best RPGs ever made. Nocturne is probably my favorite in the whole SMT series and offshoots though. It has more in common with western RPGs than most people would probably expect going in. The main SMT games work off the alignment system like D&D and many other western games (chaotic evil, neutral good, lawful good, etc), you influence the world more than watch the story unfold, and they are deeply philosophical and strange. They are also kinda like pokemon (but predate it) where you convince demons to fight for your side as your team.... level them... combine them into new demons..... I wanna play it now.
Its fantastic, but they are VERY challenging games. The sorts of games where you really need to know the ins and outs of the battle system to win. The battle system is in essence simple (but fantastic strategically) but you will need to use all the tools at your disposal to win. I generally think the core battle system throughout the series is the best of the major ones, you exploit a weakness in the enemy to gain more turns thus chaining together large amounts of attacks.... and your really need to because the enemy will do the same thing to you and rape your ass. You are a fan of the Digital Devil games arent you? Its somewhat similar.
the thing I'm most apprehensive about is the High School setting. I actually do watch some anime but am more into sci-fi/action/drama type stuff and am pretty turned off by the whole high school drama/comedy subgenre that seems pretty common in anime. How does the whole high school thing play out in P3? Is it super faggy and central to the plot or is it just sort of a means to tell the real story?
Don't worry about it, its pretty light hearted overall and most of it is spent with social links (friends you make) on very small visual novel like sections with multiple choices to choose from for responses. The school side stories are fairly interesting and varied, most of them are about getting to know a certain character.... its really pretty fun when applied as only 1 smaller system of a game as opposed to the whole game like a visual novel. It doesn't go all weird anime school drama/comedy or anything, it keeps pretty brisk and straightforward plus the increased friendships you gain boost your abilities in creating better personas to use in battle. I'd say overall it approaches the school life side as more... sentimental, pure, and honest than anything else. It also plays out very quickly, basically the game is portioned out in morning, afternoon, evening, night and a single event can happen in each.... most of the time you will use night for the classic rpg elements of fighting/leveling up and going further in the story... which unlocks new events in the other parts of the day. It really works man there is a reason why everybody loves it so much. I dont want to give too much away, but as a part of the overall plot the school parts serve as the reasoning why the major plot is important to complete. Where in most games of this sort you kinda have to take it for granted that things are worth fighting for.... in these games they take the time to show you why things are worth fighting for, and it makes the whole story just that much more involving and important.
Superbot Entertainment is the stupidest name I've ever heard. I hope the game kicks ass, but yeah, first timers.
Looks like it could be some good fun. Hope its good because these are the kinds of fighting games I enjoy, and you know that the online will be 10000000000000000000000000x better than brawl.
hmm, looks kind of cool actually. Capcom is pretty good at having games just randomly come out of nowhere and be good.
I had an 80 gig fat ps3 that was starting to get super loud and hot within 10 mins of doing anything and an old xbox 360 that I replaced last year. I traded them both into gamestop together and got $205 bucks for them and used it to buy a new slim ps3 when they had it for 200 bucks a couple weeks ago and got MK Komplete for free! So glad I did it b/c I'm positive that my old PS3 was on its last legs.
I'm terrified of my PS2-compatible 80GB PS3 dying. I'd rather pay to get it fixed than buy a new one that doesn't play PS2 games.
