Puddle is pretty fun and creative, but the physics feel a bit too floaty and the game is still not in the same league as Fluidity. Fluidity was my #1 game of 2010, straight up dog, no joke. A must own Wii title
as a fan of puzzle games and off-beat videogame narratives, im not sure why I dont own Catherine yet guess I might be a bit sour that Persona 5 (or whatever it might be called) wasn't created in its stead. Yes Devil Survivor was cool
http://www.destructoid.com/rare-no-more-digital-devil-saga-series-coming-to-psn-222201.phtml fucking awesome. i like how they are putting out a lot of cult favorites on this so far.... but more games would be nice.
Also, downloaded Xenogears on my US PSN account. Never played it as it wasn't released in Europe but I'm really enjoying this so far.
I am a big fan of square during the time period, but I will never understand why Xenogears is considered such a classic. I'm not saying its bad, just that its incredibly flawed in a lot of ways.
Picked up a PS3 with Uncharted 3 and Heavy Rain a few days ago. Couldn't be happier with my decision. I beat both games pretty quickly though and I'm hungry for more. What are some must have exclusively PS3 games? Edit: Also, I thought I heard that online gaming was free, but Uncharted wants $10 for it. Is this typical of a lot of games?
The service is free, but some games have an online pass to combat used sales - if you bought the game new, one online pass would have been included with the game, but subsequent passes cost money.
God of War III Little Big Planet (mostly for looking at the user created stuff online) MGS4 (but only if you played the first three, I don't like it as much as 1 or 3 but it's still good fun)
Well no shit. So are Oblivion and Skyrim, but most people I talk to say Oblivion isn't worth playing anymore now that Skyrim is a thing. Figured it was just another case of the newer game improving on the previous one. Either way, it's moot since he asked for exclusives and I didn't realize Dark Souls wasn't exclusive.
I hate when people say that about skyrim as well - they're not the same game, people are allowed to have played more than one game. Empire Strikes Back is better, don't see Star Wars, etc.
Of course theyre allowed to. I just don't see the point. Though I guess that's a personal thing since I don't have the time to play too many games, so I try not to waste the time I do have by playing the not-as-good one (i don't want to say worse). This is not analogous because you need to have seen Star Wars in order to understand Empire Strikes Back and enjoy it. I don't think that's true of games like these.
The point is that they are two different games. You will experience different things. If you don't like the star wars analogy, pick two different movies. If Demon's Souls and Dark Souls have different stories, pick ANY two movies. How about you shouldn't bother with Systematic Chaos because Octavarium is better. I couldn't think of any bands you like.
I get what both of you are saying, but the main difference is that games take so long to play (especially games like those Souls games). Music and movies are kind of a hard comparison because it doesn't take very long to watch a movie or listen to an album, but if you don't dedicate a large portion of your time to gaming you're better off going for the bigger and better version of the same type of game, if the previous games don't matter plot wise like Yousie was saying.
I played and beat 1 and 2 but never played 3, How much am I missing if I jump into 4? Keep in mind that although i really enjoy MGS, i found the MGS2 story to be fucking retarded by the end.
Another quick question for you guys. I noticed Crysis is available to download on the PS online market, Anybody played it yet? I'm tempted to get it since I never had the hardware on my PC to play it.
The amount of time it takes to complete a game is not relevant to what was being discussed, and the games are different, one's not a bigger and better version, they're two different games.
It's not relevant because the question was what some good games are, you could say it about anything. Don't waste your time with video games, read books instead.
uhh no... the question was why not go for Dark Souls instead of Demon Souls? I figured most people on here don't have much time to play video games, especially really long video games, so it would make the most sense to get the best experience for your time. Now, whether Dark Souls is a better or different game than Demon Souls is a different argument. I was under the impression that it was an improvement on its predecessor.
Dark Souls and Demon's Souls are remarkably similar games. Yes you can look at Dark Souls as an improved version of Demon's Souls. I would tell people to get Dark Souls if they didn't already have one. There really is no reason to go for Demon's Souls instead of Dark Souls, unless you want more of that gameplay or you want a cheaper game (since its older). I'm not saying Demon's Souls isn't a worthwhile game, I loved it to death.... but with Dark Souls out I probably wont go back and play it again.
I only mentioned it because he was asking for exclusives, but it is well worth a play. I am a little bitter though because I finished Demon's Souls and loved it, but I never managed to get past the second boss of Dark Souls because I suck.
Holy shit the coop mission in Uncharted 3 are AWESOME. That last one before the prologue is fuckin' tough, can't beat those last motherfuckers
The reason is to play one or both of two different games. I haven't played them - so correct me if I'm wrong, but yousie related it to the elder scrolls games, which is what I'm basing it off. I mean Dark Souls isn't like GOTY edition of demons souls is it? I honestly don't know how you people think like this.
Dark Souls is an entirely new story and setting while still retaining a lot of the game mechanics from Demon's Souls.
You're making the difference between the two games out to be like the difference between final fantasy and call of duty.
then it's like with Uncharted, for example. The second game is far superior and I played that first but in hindsight I wish I'd started with part 1.
It is not like the elder scrolls. While they have different stories and locations, the games are minimal with actual story. They are more about the rpg mechanics and survival than anything else, hell you barely understand wtf is going in them because it doesn't really matter beyond atmosphere. The elder scrolls games have different mechanics.... while still being grounded in a similar style, but also have huge sweeping stories that are the focus much of the time. While Dark Souls isnt a GOTY edition or anything, its pretty much the same exact systems with some tweaks and improvements. It is pretty much an iteration of the same exact thing. Honestly He-Beast, I like you but you should probably just shut up about these games as you have not played them.
