Honestly, I'm pretty broke right now, and I bought a 2LP of Tunnel Blanket last night which was $25 and then parking was $10... beer ended up costing me $8 after a tip, and then gas probably was about $25. Spent way more money than I intended to last night. So I'm planning on taking it easy for a while. For one, I'm not a huge fan of The Canal Club. It's not terrible, it's just not great. I have never heard of Blue Sky Black Death and I kinda just don't like Lights. Her music isn't terrible, her voice is kinda annoying. Basically, unless I can get in for freeor close to free, or it's something I desperately want to see, I'm going to have to skip it until I figure out an income.

I think this mentality is typical of people who have never worked in the service industry. I'm not saying that it's applicable in this case, but I feel like having worked in that capacity really helps you sympathize with people who work for tips. I agree that it's a terrible system. A tip should be earned by going the extra mile beyond your responsibilities. I think it sucks that servers get payed such a shitty hourly wage and their pay is mostly in tips. But that's the way it is. protesting it by not tipping people is REALLY FUCKING STUPID. If you want to protest that system appropriately, don't go to restaurants, or bars, or have food delivered to your house. You enter a social contract when you go to a restaurant and have people take your order and bring food to your table. That's just the way it is. Now, if service is shitty, I think it's perfectly fine to send a message across by tipping less and bringing it up with management. And that's the important part. Bring it up with the management. Not tipping anything is just you being a shitty asshole. Again, if you don't like it, don't take advantage of the services. No one is forcing you to use them.
