Flyers got Grossman from Dallas and Pavel Kubina from Tampa Bay

    AND APPARENTLY

Rumor has it the following deal is in the process of being done:

To Columbus: van Reimsdyk, Bobrovsky, and one of Coburn/Mezsaros/Read/Couturier
To Philadelphia: Steve Mason and Rick Nash

The Flyers need all the help they can get.

Short handed goal on a 3 on 5 power play, first time I've seen that ever, I do believe.

So what? It is still special, and you are talking Richards, for the Pens today it was none other than Matt Cooke, who is no Richards, bitches.

Because it's a remarkable feat and relevant to your comment about never having seen it before?

The Pens haven't had a 3-5 short handed goal since 1988, the Flyers haven't given one up since 1993. It is definitely something rare and I don't remember ever seeing one before, unless I just can't remember... that sort of thing happens when one gets older.

I know in any other year I wouldn't really care about this, but it's BS that the Blues are 10 points up on the Sharks but behind them in the standings.

Against the Flames, so it doesn't count. We don't have a 5 on 3 powerplay.

on a much milder note than the wings, devils are 11-2-1 on the road and haven't lost to montreal at bell centre since march 2008 lol.

The Flyers have won 6 of their last 16 games. Also they are 4-9-1 in afternoon games. 10 regulation losses in the afternoon compared to 19 regulation losses overall.

I usually don't buy too much into "coincidence stats" like that but afternoon games really are killing us right now. We know it's not Richards and Carter taking the young guys out to get drunk since they're not here anymore ... so WTF

How the fuck have you had so many afternoon games? Prior to this weekend I only remember the Blues having 1.

Oh yeah, Eastern Conference -> you're one of the 4 teams NBC rotates for Game of the Week

Believe me, I feel your pain. Bruins are sucking big time. But, I am not too worried. Just hitting a rough patch for us. Not sure what to say about Philly. They just cant catch a break in net. Ever.

I wish the NHL did it like the NBA to where the three division winners are guaranteed to be three of the top four seeds, but the three division winners and the top wild card are seeded according to record. Right now, the Blues would be duking it out with the Canucks for the 2 seed.

The East is even worse. Florida only has 65 points (4 less than SJ has, and as many as LA, who would miss the playoffs if the West, has), but would be the 3 seed right now as a result of winning their pathetic division.

Meh, honestly it is forgotten, but he will always be hated. Really sucked losing Savard... As I am sure you guys feel the same losing Crosby, and the two aren't even really comparable. Just sad to see players careers ended soon due to dirty hits. That is all. Oh yeah, fuck the Penguins. Still kicking ass without the leagues best player... Such bullshit. :\

Matt def is a good player if he avoids the dumb shit. Same with Marchand. I fucking love the kid. He was dynamite in the playoffs last year. The perfect balance of offense and grit against Vancouver. Now? Fucking kid is taking such dumb penalties. He better change his game or else he'll fall into the same category as Matt Cooke... On my own team I'll fucking hate him.

I'd bet everything Nash stays in Columbus. He is that team, and the only reason he is making what he is making. He would be great on any team. But not worth 7.2 mill (I think thats what he's making). He is worth probably like 5 mill on a true contender... Just sayin'.

Columbus has the all-star game next year. I think there's an incentive to keep Nash around for that.

I think he makes 7.8 million and I agree with you.

As for the Bruins, man they really haven't even been that bad, but compared to their run in November/December it seems a lot worse. I really hope Chia doesn't do anything stupid in a desperate attempt to repeat. I want them to repeat as much as anything, but I'd rather see this team be set for the next ten years then go all out to repeat this year but fuck themselves in the long run. Even if they only pick up a couple depth players, they still have to be one of the favorites to win the cup once they get healthy and the playoffs start. Personally my biggest concern during this slump hasn't been the lack of scoring (something that this team has struggled with for long stretches ever since Savard got hurt and Kessel left), but rather the erratic play of both of their goalies. While trying to turn this slump around they've had a good half dozen games where they've dominated the play for 20-30 minutes at a time only to have Timmy or Tuukka give up an awful goal which ends up just totally deflating the team. It's really surprising to say that at this point in the year.

They'll inevitably find their scoring touch again, but I'm really worried that their goalies aren't going to get a rhythm unless Claude just bites the bullet and rides one of them down the stretch b/c I think playing off and on so much has hurt both guys.

I agree to a degree. I am completely behind you in the switching of the goalies. But CJ had to because Chia was pressuring him early in the season to do so. I believe TT is one of those guys you just have to ride out, but I also think Rask will only be happy as the back up for so long. I can only see TT in black and gold for 2-3 more seasons tops. I'd love to see him retire a Bruin, but knowing him and his personality he is going to want to play till he literally can't raise his blocker.

Chia is an extremely smart GM, do not worry about any dumb trades. He did great last season and is completely confident in the forwards we have right now. We just have to get healthy again. Better to hit a rough patch now than going into the playoffs. Just gotta ride this streak out a little bit.

Table showing our pre-7pm starts is on this page: http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/flyers/139613133.html

It's actually 4-9-1, not 4-10-1. Also, only TWO of these games have been national games ... the winter classic (NBC) and the recent game where Detroit tied the record for consecutive home wins (VS). So, 12 afternoon games on local TV only. Dunno WTF that's about.

HFBoards is lame as fuck... I'm not trying to recruit or anything, but I spend a lot of time on Sportshoopla.com. The NHL forum is awesome there. Just a big mash up of fans, intelligent banter, and you can say whatever the fuck you want like here. Not PG rated like HFboards.

It's unreal how winning the cup didn't do anything to change the mindset of like 95% of the Bruins posters on HF. They all have the same fucking inferiority complex and need to make certain players into scapegoats/place blame. Like I think most of the idiots over there had "does not compute" moments when the B's won the cup and their immediate reaction was to try and blame someone for it.

Most of them also still want to trade for every fucking big name player who comes up in trade rumors even though the Bruins still basically have 18 of the 21 guys who won the cup last year and have shown that depth is just as capable of winning it all as elite talent is.

Which sucks. I was looking forward to that. I love the idea of having a Bruins/Rangers SCF or a Red Wings/Avalanche SCF. Oh well.

Be ready for tonight. Bruins need a win, expect us to come out firing on all cylinders. Blues are my fav WC team, and they are tearing it up, but if the Bruins lose tonight... I just hope Chia doesn't make a move to silence the Boston faithful before the deadline. I am fully confident in our squad, and I know Chia is as well. Just got a small injury bug and a little bit of mixed chemistry. Either way...

there is a lock out next year, so the year after is what i'm talking about.

A look at the standings is comical now. Atlantic division has 3 teams ahead of the second place Bruins all ranked 4-6. Change this stupid system to the nba type ranked by points after seeded as playoff team by virtue of division pretty please.

That would make the atlantic division ranked 1,2,3,4. Pretty beastly.

Nah, I like division leaders seeded 1-3. I think it would be better if they just made the "wild card #4" able to be 2-4 based on points.

Good win for the B's last night. Little sloppy, but I'll take the 2 points. Marshy with 2 goals and no penalties. Thats the Brad I want to see game after game.
