That's what I love about it... there are several symbols that are really apparent, but then some, especially in that final sequence during the song, "Death is the Road to Awe" that are really interesting to think about. There's obviously some kind of link among the three stories aside from them all revolving around him basically... I don't know. And that's kind of what I like about it.

The soundtrack is amazing and definitely worth tracking down. Clint Mansell. He works with the Kronos Quartet and Mogwai on this one.

Wow dude... Penelope really failed, huh?

And I totally agree with Across the Universe's rating there. The vocals in those songs were atrocious.

Religulous - 5/10. I thought they could have gone deeper into shit. Was kinda disappointed that no one threw punches at Bill Maher. Decent film, but nothing I'd care to watch again.

Some of it worked for me, a lot didn't. A character (Prudence) who serves literally no fucking purpose but to be the receiving end of a song that shares her name is not an element of a good film at all. This was like a musical that was too much song and too little story. It started out fine, but the movie was massively disjointed and there were too many points where it was simply one song after another. Could've been amazing, really, but it wasn't.

The only song on Across the UNiverse that worked for me was Let It Be. That little kid singing it at the begining and then... :(

Don't know how I feel about it really but I'm leaning to less than average so 4/10 or something. On IMDB it's got an average of like 8.5 and I don't get what about it merits that.

    Can't wait to see this.

    Just watched Le Samourai.

Fucking yes. I was worried that I was hyping it up way too much for myself, but damn. So damn precise, methodical and masculine. My introduction to Melville, and an amazing one at that.

    9.5/10

Barton Fink - i really enjoyed the idealistic writer struggling in Holywood thing and general surrealism but the ending felt like they couldn't figure out how to make the story climax.

Man, I love that film. I love how Shakespearean the whole thing feels, as with many Coen films I suppose.

Fuck China for blacklisting the lead female character. Imagine if hollywood blacklisted every American actress that starred in an anti-war movie.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (new one) - 6/10

Fairly average, but still entertaining horror movie. A couple of parts made me facepalm through the roof. 2 of the 6 points awarded are just because Jessica Biel is incredibly hot.

Great apart from the fact that it was far too long with the ending wrapping up far too quickly, and the lack of engagement in certain parts.

    Sunset Blvd - 9/10
Second time viewing, even better than the first. Absolutely classic.

I wasn't too fond of Nausicaa on my first viewing, as I'd read the manga first which is a lot more complete. It has since grown on me though, a solid 8 for me (and 8 is a good score).

John Cusack's character is really consistent and has a unique temperament. The musical references and the parody of the music snob attitude were both great.
