Technically this should be called The Official Lancaster/NY 5/8 Meet-Up 2009 Thread.

    CURRENT VERSION OF PLANS:

The Lancaster posters (myself, magnumforce2006, edecoder, toothandnail, grungeisdead, youndty, weezescorcho) will host Part 1 of the meet-up in Lancaster, PA at Long's Park, right off of Rt. 30., on Friday, August 14th. Anyone who needs rides to/from BWI (airport in Baltimore) or Philadelphia International will have them... I guess plan on arriving sometime that Friday morning... I think that would work best. Anyway, this meet-up would probably start like in the afternoon or something--noon or 1pm, I dunno yet. We'd hang out in the park, maybe do some kind of cook-out or something, go to a nearby bar, chill, go to magnumforce2006's house (lolmaybe), chill, take pictures of all of us chilling, etc. Then people'd spend the night (we can house people at various places). The next day, Saturday, August 15th, we'd all drive/carpool up to NY to meet up with some other peeps up there for Part 2 of the meet-up. The whole NY portion of the meet-up still has to be planned, though... not sure who wants to do that, but moonmang would like there to be partying and such that night. Hopefully two or three of us Lancastrians can drive up, that way we can stagger out our returns to Lancaster and take people back with us as we return (that is, if we actually carpool or whatever).

Anyway, yeah, please start confirming whether or not you can make it--either for one of the two or both.

Running list of tentatively confirmed attendants (not counting Lancaster posters):

    moonmang (both)
    Talon (both)
    Elii (both)
    LTD (both)
    Yousie (both)
    Cruiser (both)
antipopular (both, maybe sleeping over? maybe bed and breakfast?)
fallen_devil (both, maybe sleeping over? maybe bed and breakfast?)
    Bacong (both)
    Wudstock22 (Lancaster at least)
    (+ Heather?)
    mastershake (NYC at least)

All right. The Lancastrian posters have been talking over Facebook, and we've decided that we're definitely going to host a 5/8 meet-up in Lancaster sometime in August. Anyone who wants to come is welcome!

Right now we're thinking that the best location will be a place called Long's Park. It's a pretty good-sized park that also happens to be within walking distance of Park City, which is like the only mall for miles. This way we can do some awesome cook-out/frisbee-throwing/chili-eating/whatever shit outside, and/or we can go pose as mannequins in the mall and/or go to some restaurant like Damian's or something and just chill.

Long's Park is also right on Harrisburg Pike off of Rt. 30, which I imagine anyone who comes will be using to get to Lancaster (well, that or 283 I guess... anyway, directions are of secondary importance at the moment).

Anyway, what we need right now is to decide on a date or general weekend in August that works best for the most people. So let us know in this thread. We might eventually need a poll, but who knows.

Also, I imagine that we can arrange housing for anyone who wants to spend the night. Magnumforce2006's house is huge, and I'm sure his parents wouldn't mind a few guests :).

I'd be down, and I'm sure Heather would come too. Depends on which date it is...summer classes, etc.
Sounds like a lot of fun though, plus then me and Adam could finally rendezvous.

I like where this thread is going.

    To everyone:

    I will also be there :}

Luckily, nobody knows who I am, so that won't stop people from coming.

Also, it will be on some weekend. Why not just... the first weekend in August, Saturday, August 1st.

HEY MATT I DID EVERYTHING ON ONE POST YOU ASSHOLE.

Because I might be busy that weekend (or at least that Friday night). I'd almost kind of prefer that it be one of the last two weekends... But I guess that's cutting it close to school starting for a lot of people, huh?

I think we need to get some foods unique to Lancaster County so that people visiting can experience them, no?

Uh, because we have stuff that is unique to the area, and often people like the local cuisine who do not live here and are not desensitized to it, such as you are.

Our local stuff is whoopie pies and scrapple. Would you like a scrapple+whoopie pie sandwich?

You can do it the weekend of August 16th. That's my birthday :3 Jonas might not be here the first weekend of August, so middle of August would pobably be best for us.

Well, if someone told us exactly what they wanted from 'Lancaster County cuisine', maybe we could do something. But just saying 'Hey! Hey! Cuisine from Lancaster County... it exists! You are unaware of it because you are desensitized, but hell, it exists!'

And with that, I will take my six-month leave from this forum. Feel lucky!

Sounds good to me. Maybe it can be a birthday party of sorts >_>.

So, can people start thinking about whether they might be able to make it that weekend (Aug. 14-16)? Let us know!

There's an Amtrak station in Lancaster... it's a pretty easy ride to/from NYC, and one of us could easily give you rides to/from the train station. It's up to you if you'd wanna' expend that kinda cash on a round-trip ticket though. I think it might be like 100 bucks altogether or something.

Would anyone be able to bring a grill down to the park so we could do hotdogs/burgers/chicken?

Also, we might need to hire a professional photographer.

    Also, beer?

    Also, 6k posts...congrats (?) Adam.

Possibly. Hopefully we can pull something off without having to rent out a space or anything...

Well there will definitely be picture-taking, haha.

Unfortunately, Long's Park is alcohol-free. But if we move the whole thing to a restaurant or bar or something, we can enjoy some beer there. There's a nice place called Iron Hill right down the street... I'd recommend that, personally. *shrugs*

Eh, pathetic. But hey, I've grown to love this place and you people, so whatever. Thanks :)

Why not? Worst-case scenario for us is a grill-out by ourselves, which is fine in itself. Inviting 5/8 people is a nice bonus. :tup

I didn't read this thread but as long as I can get off from work I should be able to come so if it's in August it looks like I'll have plenty of notice.

Also if anyone drives here and doesn't feel like going back I can probably house people.

I promise I might not rape you.

    I just google mapped Lancaster.

lol @ Fruitville, Chestnut View, Intercourse, Ronks, Stumptown, Fertility and Neffsville.

Also it's very tempting to spend my krudd money on a flight over there, my birthday is also in august.

It'd be pretty awesome if you showed up, He-Beast. One of us could probably house you for a few days, or however long you would plan to stay in the States.

Lancaster makes sense to me, because the most members (like, 14?) are from here.

Also, if Norbert is there, I will be there, with a big hug waiting.

Also, previous poster, fuck you, you forgot about so many culturally relevant activities... such as shunning.

The only weekends I could make it would be the weekend of the 1st, or the weekend of the 29th. Oh well.
