Oh hi. Season 8 of 24 starts in an hour and a half. Probably need a thread. Season 7 was great, hopefully 8 continues that trend.

Sunday Jan 17th - 2 hours at 9 PM EST
Monday Jan 18th - 2 hours at 8 PM EST

seaon 7 was brilliant (especially considering season 6)....can't wait...

though i'll be waiting till the season's completed before watching..24 is definately a show I want to watch in a block over a week or so rather than waiting a whole week to see cliffhanger resolutions....

Although having a marathon of new episodes certainly is awesome, watching them week by week prolongs the experience. I believe there was a thread last year somewhere that argued about whether or not it was more enjoyable to watch a series over its air time, or to watch it all in one go.

Personally Id like to watch shows Im already invested in as they air. If Im just getting into a show, then Id prefer to do a marathon on DVD to get me caught up.

With 24, at this point, I gotta watch it every week. The cliffhangers are part of the fun :)

Yeah, it's Freddy. First episode was interesting, but post-season 5, the first few episodes of a season have been a bit strange. All new characters to get used to.

I just re-watched season 7 so my girlfriend could catch up, and I've decided it's a great season, rather than just a good season, like I thought when it first aired. One of the more interesting seasons, for sure.

Regarding watching the show as it airs vs. one block when it's released, I prefer to watch it as it airs. I like the cliffhangers, and having to wait a week instead of just jumping to the next episode.

That ending was up there with "head in the bag" from season 2 for most fucked up 24 moment ever. This season is pretty good so far.

So was the last season even any good? I stopped watching this show after the disappointment that was season six.

Yeah. Season seven pretty much redeemed the show, although it wasnt perfect, and season eight looks to be on the same track.

I really enjoyed the first four hours. I don't expect that by the end of this series I will think this season is anywhere near the best, but I know I will enjoy it. They really have done everything there was to do terrorist-related now and I expect previous storylines to crop up this season too.

Having said that, 24 is one of my all time favourite shows and Jack Bauer is the biggest badass in the history of TV, so I can't not like it!

there have already been a healthy amount of the usual 24 cliched plot elements, but it's entertaining thus far

I too lol. I really want a Rated R 24 film, or have them make HBO versions of the episodes to hear Jack give us some nice "FUCK!"s

    man that would be amazing

He does say "Fuck" on the short between seasons 3 and 4. Below is NSFW I guess.

What's better is when he is involved in an emotional scene with either a woman or a young boy, he always says "come here" and then forces the other character to hug him.

True, but there's one thing that makes this season unique so far. It has been five hours, and Jack has only killed one person, and has not tortured anybody yet.

He's killed three. Davros' two "henchmen" on the stairwell and Davros himself.

So this season hasn't really had any subplots or bigger details that have annoyed me thus far... And on the whole it has been pretty entertaining.

Hopefully they keep it up, because 24 is usually good at the beginning, but it's the second half that determines whether it's actually good season or not.

7 was better than 6, but still lost it's steam.

Really? I find the Dana Walsh subplot entirely boring and ridiculous. But otherwise the show is holding my interest so far.

Yeah you guys are right, the Dana Walsh story it stupid. Fortunately it doesn't take up too much airtime.

Yeah, it doesn't. I hope it's there for a reason though, and that it somehow pays off. Because right now it's just stupid. I can't think of how it will tie-in, though.

My favourite part of tonight's episode was Jack playing the German. Those glasses were classic.

Yeah, I think he should wear the glasses for the rest of the season.

I don't mind the Dana subplot because I think she has nice legs.

I feel like this season is just a mirror image of all previous seasons. All these twists have been done so many times that it's pretty stale now. However I'm an invested fan and will finish out the season anyway in hopes that something will get me hooked. Right now I kind of just casually watch the show. I used to be on the edge of my seat at the end of every episode.

last night's was downright abysmal. they are just concentrating on uninteresting stuff, and decisions/dialogue is not making sense, and needless drama is being churned-out. This show is officially over-the-hill. My friends and I are now going to watch the rest of this season for laughs.

One big laugh was when the mid east brother fag was calling CTU and said he was in Forest Hills, at some sort of boat warehouse. :rollin. We're all from Forest Hills, and were watching in Forest Hills, and there is nothing like a boat warehouse anywhere. It is a very nice neighborhood with some real estate ranging in the 2.5-5 million range. There's a boathouse by Meadow Lake in Flushing Meadow park (not Forest Hills) but that's as close as you'll get.

    LOL 24 writers

If he's in a hyperbaric chamber, why not just set it to create a near vaccuum thereby making the guy go unconscious?

this show fell over the hill, forget strolling on over.

Part of me still wants to know the conclusion of the Jack Bauer arc. When I think about how much better sculpted this show used to be, it baffles me.

Yeah, and last season was pretty decent, so I had hopes that the new writing team would be a good thing. But the show seems a bit listless at this point. But I'll keep watching because I want to see how Jack ends up.

This definitely needs to be the final season.

They've been hinting that Season 8 will be the final season anyway, to be followed by a movie that will finish things off for Jack Bauer (with the 24 hour period being encompassed within the 2-3 hours of movie time).

I'd be fine with them ending the show after this season. I'm really only watching because I've been watching since the beginning. I've invested too much time in the show to stop now.

Exactly. It's time to stop. Then a movie to finish off Jack's arc would be perfect.
