why? red wings are a great organization, and rangers have to exist for me to hate.

Yeah, lets kick the most popular team out of the struggling NHL. Good idea.

I probably hate the red wings just as much as you hate the rangers. Actually, I hate the red wings almost as much as I love the Canucks. Although to be honest, I hate the rangers too.

Oodrd127: Most popular? I think the fans in Boston and Montreal might disagree with you. Who's going to be rooting for the red wings when their luck runs out and they finally tank? The same fans who gleefully show up and support (unconditionally) the Lions?

    Yeah, right.

It's easy to be the most popular team when you win a cup every other year. When you haven't won one since the 70's and the fans still come to games, that's when you have something to be proud of.

There was a study a few years back that said the Wings had the most fans around the country of any team in the NHL. Hence why you see so many Wings jerseys in the crowds even at away games.

Oh, and the Lions sell out every game and take up most of the (Detroit area) sports media coverage during the fall. So fuck right off.

Also, if you want to attribute 4 Stanley Cups in 11 years and 17 straight seasons of being in the playoffs to luck that's fine. But don't pretend that that's an adequate explanation for the Red Wings' success.

The New York Post reports that New York Rangers winger Jaromir Jagr has received a three-year, $35 million contract offer to play with Omsk of the Russian Super League next season. A source with connections in the Czech Republic told The Post that Jagr received the formal offer this week.

    NICE.

Oh and the Canucks suck. If not for Luongo they would be a fucking AHL team.

Apparently Bertuzzi is up for grabs, that's a pretty hot pick.

Luongo wasn't all that good last season.

I don't know if he's gonna take the offer though. Jags really wants to come back to the Rangers. But I sure hope Sather knows something I don't. He's not doing too well in my book right now.

Lol, he's still the best goalie in the league. I admit he was less than stellar last year but he had some personal problems that were affecting his game. Not to mention the team rarely backed him up.

He sucked last season. If he has any brains he would sign with the Russians to make money with the downward trend he's showing. That's prime retirement money right there.

On an unrelated news, quite alot of Pens are jumping ship seeing the trend of organization signing big names and forgetting the real players.

What surprises me about his play last season is how he showed up in the playoffs. He was suddenly right back to form. Not sure what happened there - I think we could still get one more season out of him and until about a week ago he was saying he really didn't want to play in Russia.

it's called UFAgitis, Gomez caught the same bug last year in playoffs after a god awful season, the side effects include amazing stats and a willingness to show off talent for cash under the influence of international media.

Malone and Roberts sign with the Lightning, which makes Penguins the new lightning with three players taking up the entire cap and everyone else running to save their ass, enjoy another first round pick boys.

All he does is stir up trouble cause he's too old and slow to do anything productive.

Oilers traded Stoll and Greene to LA for Visnovsky - seems more likely that Joni Pitkanen gets traded (or signs elsewhere as a RFA).

Devils are talking to Shanahan, hawt, let the man retire in the original jersey.

Devils are talking to Campbell, hawter, Lou finally is trying to make a splash after 12 years of quiet off seasons.

I can't believe you guys are slagging Gary Roberts. The man gets it done like almost nobody else in the league. He fucking defines clutch. I almost wanted to cry when I heard he'd signed with the Lightning.

Pfft. They still have absolutely no defence and an unproven goaltender. Even if everything gels and they win the East, any team from the West will crush them.

tampa is not going anywhere fast, they can have all the offense but they have no defense or goaltending.

    edit: got beat.
