This thread is to bring attention to stuff that is Instantly Watchable that you might not notice. Since there is a lot of stuff unavailable, this might be helpful if you feel like watching something online but don't know what to watch. Just post good shit you found on Netflix, or anything you watched recently on it.

Some of the movies I've watched on it:

    Evil Dead

    Matchstick Men

    The Royal Tenenbaums

    Man on Wire

    Perfect Blue

    Ghost in the Shell

    Dr. Strangelove

    Memento

    Following

    Interview with the Vampire

    American Movie

    Deliver Us From Evil

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

As far as TV goes, you can find all of Buffy, Angel, Firefly, and Arrested Development on there. I don't know what other shows are on there but I think there are a lot.

    Very useful site: http://instantwatcher.com/titles/new

oh fuck they added Archer today, NICE

They also have a TON of Criterion films on there

I hate when movies are in the wrong aspect ratio though ... best to look for offerings in HD

Last time I checked, any anime on Netflix instant was English dub. Avoid. Get DVDs mailed instead.

That's pretty shitty considering all foreign non-animated films I've watched on there have the original audio with English subs.

Can someone explains how it works? I am assuming I pay one monthly fee and I get unlimited movies instantly through my Xbox or internet?

If you're using through xbox you need a Live subscription as well as a Netflix plan (I just use the 1dvd plan for $9/mo). If you do it through your desktop you can just stream away.

For that price you get unlimited streaming and as many DVDs as you can rent but you can only have one DVD at a time. They have plans all the way up to 12 DVDs at once I think.

I am assuming you mean if I do it through my desktop I can just stream away for 9/month and not for free?

There are a lot of cool old TV shows on instant watch like the original Star Trek and the Twilight Zone, but I've also found that you can watch those on youtube (legitimately).

lol today Netflix told me I might enjoy Opeth: Lamentations. It's also suggested And All that Could Have Been, and some Radiohead DVD.

Good job nailing 3/5 of my favorite artists, Netflix.

(btw: Lamentations is on instant queue)

Last time I checked, they had the entire series of Zatoichi films. I watched the first one, pretty quality stuff, never got around to watching the rest because I'm currently watching Doctor Who and have anime stuff backed up my ass.

I used it a while back to finally get into 30 Rock and now I'm plowing through every episode of the X Files. Even when connecting my laptop to a 47" tv, the quality holds up pretty well.

Netflix has a surprisingly good collection of documentaries. I watched The King of Kong, The Thin Blue Line, Capturing the Friedmans, and some other stuff I think I already mentioned on there. And I'm probably going to watch Small Town Gay Bar.

The King of Kong is fucking AWESOME. I almost never watch documentaries but I LOVED it.

Seriously. If you watch one streaming movie a month, you already save $1-2 versus going to the movie theater. If you watch two, you have matched or bested the price of two rentals. Everything past that is pure gain.

The best part is, you also get one disc at a time. Unlimited streaming, plus potentially 10-12 discs a month if you're fast and have quick mail cycles. FOR NINE DOLLARS.

If we had netflix here, I'd eat that shit up. The closest thing we have is bigpond movies and you pay per movie.

I finished watching Small Town Gay Bar. It was pretty good and interesting, maybe a little repetitive.

It's a lot of fun, and it has some pretty great characters. It's something you can easily recommend to people who never watch docs and they'll probably love it. Billy Mitchel is seriously ridiculous and it's amazing to see a character like that who is actually walking around somewhere today. The conspiracy and the drama that comes from a subject like getting a high score in Donkey Kong is insane, but it really gets you into it. I totally agree that it is fucking awesome.

Personally, I've become kind of addicted to documentaries recently and Netflix has helped fuel my love. Everyone should watch Caputuring the Friedmans. I wasn't expecting to like it a whole lot but it was really powerful. And of course, different people can walk away from it with totally different interpretations, which is one thing I really love in a good documentary.

I just started my one-month trial on Xbox. Hollllly fuck media overload. I almost immediately decided it's gonna be worth $7.99/month.

I just started watching Mad Men (finally) ... haven't really looked too in depth into the movie catalogue, but from what I've seen ... I'm definitely not leaving my house for a month.

I don't take advantage of this as much as I should on my PS3, but I've watched some Beavis and Butthead and a pretty well-done Joseph Goebbels documentary. There's actually a lot of interesting stuff on this thing hmmmhmmm
