TMV are more consistently enjoyable. for King Crimson i need to be in the right mood and during a lot of their stuff i'll space off and start thinking about to something else or whatever. also the way they make their albums a mix of weird improv stuff, tight composed instrumental stuff, and catchy singsong stuff makes me enjoy them a less since usually i'll want one of those things from an album, not all three. i like how The Mars Volta work their weirdness together into songs with epic hooks and such forth. i do like King Crimson quite a bit though
The answer's still obvious, but I would've never loved TMV as much as I do without patience and relistening.
Which makes it even worse if people from completely different perspectives can see completely underutilized potential from numerous angles.
the mars volta are one of the worst bands ever, while king crimson is a hugely influential and creative, not to mention legendary band. lol @ this poll
This poll is the equivalent of a wide receiver highstepping into the endzone with no defenders in sight.
Fuck I voted for The Mars Volta because I have never heard of King Crimson and I though TMV would win in a landslide. What is King Crimson about.
Are you talking about me or the which album guy? Cause to be honest I have never heard of these guys. Can you youtube me like their best song, and not like the best song judged by those who have listened to them for 100 years but like an accessible one.

Really? That is their best song, and not like the best song judged by those who have listened to them for 100 years but like an accessible one. Or in their top?
I mean it was pretty good, but I expected a bit more of a band that kicked TMV's ass in a poll like this. I like the last 2 minutes of the song lots.
People are biased towards them because they've been around for like 75 years and were omg influential and shit imo
not to mention this is one song from only one album when the band is known for literally making complete shifts in style every few years. you can't expect to find one song that sums the band up, so I chose the one that is both the one most people hear first and that is admittedly the best introduction (e.g. NOT a summary or representation) if you're looking for a band that you can get a good general idea of with a couple of songs, move on because king crimson isn't for you.
