    EDIT: This was awesome :)

All right, I guess this will be the (really) official thread for hammering out the details of the meet-up. As I've posted in the other two threads (here and here), the current plan is as follows:

The Lancaster posters will host Part 1 of the meet-up in Lancaster, PA at Long's Park (map and directions), right off of Rt. 30., on Friday, August 14th. Tentative starting time is 1pm.

This would basically be a cook-out kind of scenario, I think. We'd hang out in the park (burgers and hot dogs and shit), maybe go to a nearby bar, chill, go to magnumforce2006's house, chill, take pictures of all of us chilling, etc. Then, whoever is going up to NYC with us the next day can spend the night (we can house people at various places in Lancaster). Just know that we don't have an infinite supply of housing: as numbers increase, we might need those of you who can afford it to get a hotel room or something. But we'll see.

The next day, Saturday, August 15th, we'd all drive/carpool up to NYC (or, in Elii's case, to NJ and then take the train to NYC) to meet up with some other peeps up there for Part 2 of the meet-up. The whole NY portion of the meet-up still has to be planned, though... not sure who wants to do that, but moonmang would like there to be partying and such that night. Hopefully two or three of us Lancastrians can drive up, that way we can stagger out our returns to Lancaster and take people back with us as we return (that is, if we actually carpool or whatever). Like I said, the whole NYC thing isn't really planned yet, so the New Yorkers might wanna' start coming up with some ideas about where we should meet and stuff (suggestions about routes/parking would be great too).

If you're planning on coming to Lancaster, you need to tell us. We also need to know HOW you plan on traveling here. If you drive yourself, that's great--then you can either drive back home that night or, in the event that you want to road-trip up to NYC with us the next day, you can spend the night in Lancaster (we need to know that too).

If you come by way of plane, train, or bus, one of us can pick you up Friday morning (we recommend Philadelphia International or BWI by plane, or the Lancaster Amtrak/Greyhound station if by train or bus). If you get a round-trip ticket or something, then you'll have to give yourself enough time... i.e., plan to go back late Friday night or Saturday morning (and one of us will take you back to the station or airport). Or you can plan on leaving from somewhere in NYC Saturday night (or Sunday, if there's somewhere you can stay up there Saturday night).

tl;dr TELL US IF YOU CAN COME SO WE CAN PLAN THIS SHIT :)

EDIT: Important update. Grungeisdead was able to get a $92.00 rate at the hotel where he works. Split among 4-5 people, that's not bad at all. If you are interested in this (it would really help with housing), read this (he needs you to PM him so he gets a good idea of how many rooms would actually be needed, or whatever. Travis--it might take a couple days for everyone-who-would-be-interested to actually see this... but whatever):

Also, this is a 3 month advance notice. There's no reason why you can't get a day off work for an extended weekend. Also, I was looking at flights and they're pretty cheap. Man up and make the trip FFS.

I would like to add that if you're planning on making the Lancaster/NY or just a NY trip, you should check out flying from(in case you're flying to Baltimore to go to the Lancaster meetup) Newark Airport(EWR) which is about 20 minutes from NYC with a $10 train tickets. JFK airport is a lot farther from NYC and a lot more of a hassle to get to than EWR.

Arbiter and I miiiiiggggghhhhhht be able to make it. It depends on what kind of employment I can come up with by then. We'd likely only be able to go to the NYC portion.

Add Placebo, whs and me to the list for both.
We'd probably fly to Landcaster or wherever we need to go to get there so we wouldn't have a car... and yeah we'd spend the night if need be.

I gotta find the prices and shit first though so I may have to change it. And if getting all three of us is a hassle just let us know and we'll just fly to NY instead I guess? :o

Time for me to leave for work, I'll figure it out when I'm back.

We'll see. I'd love to be able to house anyone who wants housing... just... yeah... we'll see. I don't want to force you guys out of being able to come to the Lancaster one or anything, but... depending on what we're able to handle on this end, it might end up being better for you guys to just meet up with us in NYC. But at this point I don't think there's a problem yet!!

Adam, for those of us housing, and you add their "housing status" to the OP. As in whether they'll need a place to stay Friday night or not.

Done. Admittedly it's kind of intimidating, but remember that probably not everyone on the list is actually going to be able to come. I expect plans to change and conflicts to pop up. But no matter what we'll handle it.

Strangefist, do you want a ride to this? Unreal, same question?

I'm definitely in for Lancaster. NYC is a maybe/probably not, but we'll see. I would probably ask for housing IF I come to the New York part, rather than do the drive round trip to both places.

Is Andres actually coming? That would be epic.

Here's an idea: Why don't we have sort of a bullshit camping thing, so we rent out a space and all bring tents, and that would solve the housing issue?

at this point, count me in for the NYC portion, but I might very well be able to make both. Housing would be appreciated, but I also have a very lightweight tent that can hold 2 comfortably :ponder ;):horny

I'll be there if I can be there. At this point it's not looking great. Bad time of year (taking a five-day vacation two weeks prior to this), bad time of week (I always work Fridays and Saturdays). Doesn't help that I am management at my job. I have a lot of responsibilities and I'm expected to run the show on the weekend all the time :/

I can afford the cost of travel, I'm certain, but the timing is just horrible. Make it Sunday through Tuesday or Monday through Wednesday instead :colbert:

So at this point I'm a "maybe." If someone invents reliable teleportation by August, then I'm fo sho. And if I do show, I'll need housing. And I'll probably only be at the PA part. After that I may break off, do my own thing and visit a friend I have in the area.

Fuck you guys, this shit never works in my favor. :(
