So far the only vendor I've seen that will buy anything are the general stores, and the thieves guild fencers. They never have enough gold to buy my crap though. My routine is: ->quest -> Dragonsreach to disenchant things/sell magical items to the mage -> Map to house and gather iron ingots, leather, leather straps -> Improve anything I can at the blacksmith next door, then sell it all -> Buy all of the iron ingots/leather/leather straps from blacksmith -> Visit general store and arcadium(it's next door to general store) and sell shit -> Go home and put anything else in storage That way I only have to familiarise myself with one town. Good
Thanks for the answers. It's not a problem of the vendor's money, but that they only wanted a selected few things out of my inventory. For example I couldn't sell dragonbones and whatever else they dropped anywhere so far, they're worth a lot and weigh a lot, only clutter up my capacity, and I want the goddamn gold (I probably need the dragon stuff somewhere in the future but atm all I want is the gold )
I barely have the money to buy my first house, so I'm glad that I can sell anything at all to get over the 5.000 gold. Once I find more stuff worth so much, I'll definitely look into your pointer.
protip: enchant shit. a crappy iron dagger with a crappy enchantment on it made with a crappy petty soul gem is worth $$$
Best way to sell stuff is to make sure you dont waste selling weapons and armor to a general store when they are the only ones to buy random crap. Best way to make money is to enchant everything (with petty gems you find of course because otherwise they are useless) and craft potions like a mad man and just sell that shit.
I stopped collecting ingredients a long time ago. I guess I should start again though because there seems to be a global shortage of healing potions.
I only keep Ultimate potions now and I have about 75 of each in my hideout. I keep 5 Ultimate healing on me even though I never really need to use them.
I did 3 or 4 quests from arriving at my first town and had 5,000. Are you buying something else with the gold?
As stated before, I thought it was worth the three or four perks to get the sell anything to anybody ability. I usually take my stuff to the College and then buy all the available soul gems and then sell off my crap.
I'm level 35 and haven't leveled up in about 10-15 hours of playing. I've gone up in my skills by probably 40 points, so I expect I'll go up 2 or 3 levels when I do level up.
I just stopped leveling up, my skills are going up but I'm not leveling up to get perks or health/magic/stamina bonuses. I wanted to see if it would make the game harder but it didn't. Hopefully when I do level up all the enemies will become harder. EDIT: Yeah, I'm aware I didn't explain it well, but to be fair I didn't really try. I've not slept well all week and I think Bradar is hiding in my wardrobe and coming out at night and moving my stuff around.
oh and also the waterbreathing enchantment is worth a lot too, and it doesn't matter what kind of soul gem you use as to its value. a silver ring with a petty soul gem waterbreathing enchantment won't be worth much less than a gold diamond ring with a grand one
To be honest, I have no idea... I haven't spent money at all at vendors, because you find so much shit everywhere anyway. When I arrived at the first town, I think I had something like 1000 gold, no more... Are you constantly grinding everything that moves? I mainly follow the quests, and only go into dungeons or the likes, if they really lie on the way...
Go out of the way and explore!!! It's the best part about the game. Fuck the story quests and just enjoy what comes up in the world.
When I got to the first town I probably had about that as well. I just picked up 2 bounty quests from the jarl and ran those dungeons before continuing the story.
Could countain spoilers hilarious. Also, everyone should install the mod that makes children killable.
What are all the essential mods for this game (the OP should be edited with the list because 2 months from now someone asking the same question isn't going to find the answer)? I have one mod that adds in extra ambient noises (crows, random dogs barking in towns, just more general background realism), and another mod that adds a texture for procedural snow (unlike that awful flat snow that shows up on surfaces around Windhelm and other places like that).
I just added in those sound mods for dungeons and the wild....makes me jumpy, don't know if I like them. I also added Great Wyrms and Moar Dragons and Spend Dragon Souls for Perks this weekend. Finally hit level 81 too.
Has anyone managed to do an "Open Towns" mod similar to the one that was in Oblivion? It would insert the towns directly into the main Cyrodiil map, so instead of a loadscreen, you open the door to the town and walk in (didn't work on Imperial City, though). It worked for Oblivion because the external walls of the town were the exact dimensions of the town interiors... I'm not sure if they bothered keeping it that way in Skyrim, and if not it would probably not be possible. I heartily enjoyed leading critters from the wild into towns and watching the townspeople go nuts.
the wilds sound mod i like, the dungeons one not so much. too eerie, doesn't really fit the aesthetic of the game.
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/top/alltime.php?adult=2 just browse the list and try what seems fun, i use too many mods to really list them. most are more tweaks and visual stuff though. and yes a lot of those (if not most) are on the workshop.
If you free the guy in Solitude (which apparently happens just by jumping onto the stage) and then run out of Solitude and all the way non-stop (with the guards chasing you) to Windhelm, will the guards in Windhelm attack you or will they attack the guards from Solitude? Logically, the guy I freed is one of their own so they should defend me against the dudes from Solitude. I would try it but it's a long ass way to run. Also, how do you do Wolfskull Cave? I got as far as killing the first batch of necromancers, and now there's a deep hole in the floor. I can't seem to find a way down. I can't imagine I'm supposed to just jump down, especially since there would be no way out.
DLC/Expansion Rumors: http://gamersanonymous.ca/skyrim-dlc-expansion-leaked/ before you say "LOL" Something similar happened for BFBC2 and BF3 (more recently) and both times the "source" was 100% right. However, the dragon riding is fucking stupid. Hope that is wrong. But w/e. Something to think about, I guess.
I know this was not serious (at least I'm hoping) but remember that each hold has their law system separate, so you would be home free once you made it into the Reach or Whiterun holds.
Its in the video that Bethesda put out of stuff the teams did after they finished the game and had some time to do whatever they wanted.
