    ...well, what of this?

just saw it last night, its taken me a while, but now i think ive come to the conclusion that i loved it, quite a slow building movie, so if your not into that maybe you wont enjoy so much

Im really starting to like Casey Affleck, just saw him in "Gerry" about a week ago and enjoyed him in that too so if he keeps doing nice meaty' rolls like this he'll be climbing my list fast

what i loved about the movie is the journey it took you on, the DVD box will tell you in plain black and white "the The Assassination of Jesse James..." but for some reason i almost felt as if it wouldnt happen, and in a way it came almost as a surprize when it did happen

cinematography was beautiful, the mood was excellent (each gun shot felt just as powerful as the last, everyone of them made me jump out'a my seat)

i also quite liked Sam Rockwells preformance, even though he didnt really play such a serious character in Charley Ford, but i thought those small scenes when hes playing Jesse James at the end on stage were really stellar, going from the first few of his badly acted preformances to this demended spitefull re-incarnation of Jesse

(just found out on wiki, not sure it said it in the movie, but Jesse Jame's wife Zee was his cousin, har har har')

what you all think of it?

i need to watch it again, i liked it though but wasn't paying full attention to it.

Sam Rockwell is so awesome, he should get more main roles

One of my favorite films of last year that got slept on. The cinematography was just gorgeous. Kinda upset that I didn't get to see it on the big screen in my area because of that.

fantastic movie, in my top 3 last year. I say this every time someone brings it up, but it is so poetic and beautiful. I love this kind of subtle, contemplative, character driven film. don't mind at all that it is slow moving or long, in fact I love a film like that if it's well done like this one is, because you can really just sit there and bask in the details of the film's world and its characters. Pitt and Affleck both give outstanding performances, but the whole supporting cast is great too. not a weak performance in it. and the cinematography is simply breathtaking. just an excellent movie.

Yes. There were three films from last year that were utter masterpieces: There Be Blood, No Country for Old Men, and this. I have to mention the amazing score as well. Such a beautiful movie

ahh i wasnt crazy over the score...

it definatly works beautifuly in a good few parts, but i didnt like how in a few scenes it reused the same part of the score, this wouldnt be such a bad thing but that particular part of the score didnt do it for me

altho looking back on it, its not such a big deal and if i watched it again i probably wouldnt mind it

i wiki'd the story of the real Jesse James and the movie stays very true to the real story, and you wouldnt belive the resemblance Casey Afleck has to the real Robert Ford, its crazy

Just saw this. Amazing. Pitt and Affleck were utterly brilliant.

edit: however, I disagree with the sentiments above concerning the score... I didn't think it was anything special at all really, especially since I'd just watched Slumdog Millionaire (mediocre film, but an amazing score)

the music is so beautiful though, and fits the movie so well. it's going for something completely different from the Slumdog score, so I don't think it's really fair to compare.

I wasn't really comparing the scores, I was just saying that I think Slumdog has an amazing score and this one doesn't. I think the music in this film was too generic, and by that I don't at all mean that they should have gone all out like There Will Be Blood, I just felt the pieces weren't very strong and even sounded a bit amateurish in places... they fit the movie, sure, but they could've been much more interesting, i.e. the score could've been in the exact same vein, but done better. But I guess that's a matter of taste.

amateurish? wow. yeah, I don't know man, I think it's a gorgeous score. it's simple, but beautiful and haunting. I think I could listen to it on its own and enjoy. but to each his own.

I fell asleep to this the other night, but I like the fifteen minutes of it that I saw. It was due back to the video store the next day so I had to take it back. I will probably re-rent. I could even tell it had great cinematography on the 14" screen from across the room.

This is on AMC right now. I've seen it before and loved it, one of my favorite movies in the last ten years. The train robbing scene is one of the most unsettling things I've watched on a screen. Jesse standing on the ties, the train light shining on him, the KKK-esque hoods the gang is wearing, the confrontation with in the car with the safe. Plus the movie as a whole is gorgeous.

I hate it when the lead characters die. But great portrayal by Casey Affleck and Brad Pitt.

Bro come on, it's in the title. Awesome movie though, visually stunning and one of Brad Pitt's best roles.

I viewed this twice in the last week or so

Fucking fantastic film, god damn. Everything about it just strikes me as so well done and polished. Story was well done and incredibly fluid, and the narration was excellent - particularly the opening sequence describing Jesse. Casey Affleck was excellent as fuck in this as a timid, awkward, introverted guy who loved the idea of what he perceived Jesse to be, but not really who he was.

Also the scene between Ed Miller and Jesse - fuck

edit: also, the cinematography (especially the 'scenic' shots was so true to form for how the Midwest looks in winter that I was literally shocked they shot it in Canada.

Apparently the original cut was about four hours. I'd kiss a diseased dog dick to see it.

I've been waiting since the move released to see this cut as well after hearing about it, I'm beginning to think it isn't going to happen...

Casey Affleck's performance in this is probably one of my favourite performances by any actor.

Yeah, this movie is awesome. It even contains "The Brad Pitt Laugh" in that scene at the kitchen table.
