How hard would it be to have a way of tagging people in posts/threads like on Facebook? Sounds daft but it would be pretty cool for getting someone's attention when posting a thread about a band if you think they might like them, or if you have a story that involves them you could tag them in the post and it would come up in their alerts that they'd been tagged. I was kinda thinking that if someone was tagged in thread (ie in the OP) then it would be invisible to all but those tagged/doing the tagging so as to not junk up the OP, but when writing a post if you were to put '@Briang' then they would see they'd been tagged. Good idea, bad idea? Not sure if it's even possible but I think there's some use there, if only for recomending shit or tagging people in posts that make them out to be a sex offender.
I don't think it's a bad idea to take features from a social networking site to a forum if it would have benefit here, I don't see how we're in any danger of becoming a social network site anymore than we always have been, this is just a way of getting relevant people's attention for discussion that may interest them

Yes, I got one from Noxon, as I'd forgotten about this thread for ages until I got it and was all like 'oh shit' when I saw I'd been tagged.
