actually, looking over an episode list now I realize the show was pretty much amazing as far back as season 2. I like season 1 as well, it's just not quite on the same level of brilliance as the rest. I still think the show continued to get better from that point on, but it was already at a really high level by the second season.
No, he means that exchange is from the second episode, "Weight Gain 4000." http://www.planearium2.de/scripts-102.htm
Season 2 is probably the worst season they ever did. The novelty of the show was starting to wear off, and they hadn't yet figured out how to take it in new and interesting places. Plus I think they were dedicating a lot of effort (and most of the funny jokes) to the (amazing) movie during that time. I actually stopped watching the show during that season, and didn't return until season 6 or so, at which point I started watching all the old episodes and kicking myself for missing out.
hmm, seems ive drasticaly over-shot my seasons, see im not the biggest south park fan so excuse that, lemme' check the season guide thing'e and ill see from where to where i stand hmmm, yea prob the majority of season 4 onwards, see i hate all that mr.hanky and older' style character stuff, so once they pretty much reinvented themselves its pretty golden from then on in
I guess a lot of people feel that way, but looking over the list I see a lot of episodes I remember liking. but I guess there aren't really any I would call classics, and it's admittedly been a long time since I last saw several of them. How about season 3? can we agree that the show is pretty great from then on?
Yeah, I think it starts to pick up speed in season 3, though there are a number of episodes in season 2 which measure up pretty well. I love Prehistoric Ice Man and Clubhouses in particular.
Yeah, I don't particularly like the majority of Season 2, but from Season 3 on is excellent. Season 3 also contains what used to be my favorite South Park episode: "Spontaneous Combustion". "Stanley, I think it's best you live with Kyle from now on. His dad is better than me." "No he's not! He can't even get a nurection!" "Heh, really?"
Farmer: That's the third cow this month, at this rate all my cattle are going to die before the winter's through. Cows: Moooo? Officer Barbrady: This is nothing out of the unusual, cows turn themselves inside out all the time. Farmer: People have been saying they've been seeing U.F.O.'s around. Officer Barbrady: (laughing) U.F.O's! Farmer: Yeah, and black Army and CIA helicopters and trucks. Officer Barbrady: That is the silliest thing I ever heard. <helicopter> Farmer: What was that? Officer Barbrady: That, that was a pigeon.
So children, Genghis Khan was a Mongol, not to be confused with a mongoloid, like the actor Nicolas Cage.
<timmy>Hey Tim, how many able bodied people does it take to screw in a lightbulb? ONE! ******** <Timmy> Well mom, if you've got a problem with that I guess you should just pass the blunt to the nigger on yo' left.
That's Jimmy "Hey Wendy, Stan wanted me to tell you that you're a cont-...you're a cont-...Stan wanted me to tell you that you're a cont-...a cont-...a cont-..." "Tell Stan to fuck off!" "A contttttinuing source of inspiration to him."
Jimmy's stutters NEVER seize to make me laugh. Also, the Proper Use of a Condom episode is fantastic. Furthermore, I present to you my favourite moment of television ever: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0DhAR5nOVVo"]YouTube - Rob Schneider's Stupid Movies[/ame]
^YES!! Maybe my favorite episode ever! @Strangefist: To me, season 3 of south park is a lot like season 3 of the simpsons. Definite flashes of brilliance, and some stone-cold classic episodes (Chinpokomon, Starvin' Marvin in Space...), but still somewhat of a work in progress compared to what the show would become.
My god I love that Durp bit. That's been part of me and my friend's vocabulary for years. Sometime drunk conversations will just devolve in to "der?" "der!" etc. I love that bit so so much.
GODDAMMIT LOCH NESS MONSTER I DON'T HAVE THREE-FITTY! I gave him a dollar... WHAT? YOU GAVE HIM A DOLLAR? OF COURSE THE LOCH NESS MONSTER'S GOING TO COME BACK ASKING FOR THREE-FITTY!
^^^^ classic moment, I just revived it last night with my friends while playing pool. It was fucking awesome. Btw, I just lose it with Trey Parker's voices. Seriously, he just makes me lol so much.
I love whenever there's a big crowd of angry townsfolk, and the shouting is nothing more than "RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE" over and over again. I think they even pointed it out in one episode.
Yeah, the rabble rabble is awesome. Even SWAT teams are yelling it. MAM, HAND OVER THE BABY! Okay. *hands over Kenny* *pew pew pew* Oops. *episode ends*
I love it when the president is giving a speech and the journalists are all AHHH MR PRESIDENT MR PRESIDENT. Picking out the individual voices is fantastic. Also, I watched The Entity last night. At the end, when Mr Garrison goes "Yeah, but thank God we got rid of all those ni-" then the episode ends. Man, I lol'ed pretty hard.
Man, when they burn a big T in front of Will Smith's house. "OMG a Burning Crucifix" Garrison and others hidden behind the bushes: "It's not a crucifix, it's a T" "a T?" "Yeah, like in "TIME TO LEAVE"
Haha, the best part is that Kobe actually got it. "Tee. Time to...leave?" "T is for 'time to leave', cashchucker!"
That's not The Entity. It's "Here Comes the Neighborhood." Also, one of my favorrite underrated voices is the orange-haired detective.
What? Season 7 got some kick ass episodes: South Park is Gay, Christian Rock Hard (that episode is GOLDEN) and Lil Crime Stoppers. I agree the rest is mediocre or bland, but these episodes excuses the below-standards, imo.
Season 7 is actually one of my favorites. I'm a Little Bit Country, Krazy Kripples, Canceled, Lil' Crime Stoppers, Christian Rock Hard, South Park is Gay, Raisins, Casa Bonita...all brilliant episodes. The only episode that's less than very good is Christmas in Canada.
I like season 7, but I didn't like it at first, so I can understand. 6 is probably my favourite, I love Asspen.
I still think the Zintar Triangle (aka Barbra Streisand episode) is the most kick ass. I remember bursting into tears while watching it for the first time. http://www.tv.com/south-park/mecha-streisand/episode/2428/summary.html But I guess it was because of the spanish voices which were amazing.
