You know it had to be done. Showdown time. The losers must close their accounts here and be exiled to the Mike Portnoy forums.

Shattered Skies because they have two members I like whereas Tetrafusion only have one.

And no, I haven't heard either band. Prog-metal is for faggots.

I have heard both, and I prefer Shattered Skies by a pretty huge margin. I wouldn't really listen to either of them in my free time, but Tetrafusion is pretty god-awful imo.

Rockettmeister could probably play all of Tetrafusion's parts all by himself.

Have fun with the Last Chance outro on keys.

Actually, he'd probably have fun playing that, I remember him uploading a lot of keys videos.

I prefer Tetrafusion only because Brooks is a lot more humble than Rockett. Like, a lot. Not that you're that arrogant Ian it's just that Brooks is crazy modest, genuinely.

I really don't remember saying anything particularly arrogant about my abilities, and especially as I have, on countless occasions, said how much better of a guitarist you are than me, I don't really get what you find so 'arrogant' about me. Yeah, I play a few instruments, and yeah, I'm good (not the best) at them, but that's really all there is to it. What's so 'arrogant' or 'not humble' about that?

Dude, I don't think you're arrogant at all. Brooks is just really fucking humble...like really, really humble. It's hard to explain, he just really doesn't understand how talented he is, I think. You know...

Why do you wanna make me feel like this?

    Triple post:

I feel as if everyone here will enjoy the things I've been writing lately. And I'm not just saying that because that's what everyone says when they're writing new material, I'm saying that because this forum has had a lot to do with how I write. Everything y'all have heard was written before I joined 5/8. Now that I am a regularly posting member, it's almost as if the music I've been writing is tailored to meet 5/8's needs.

They're right there. The poster above you is in Tetrafusion; instead of just generally throwing questions out to no one, you could always ask them.

He's classically trained. He is a voice major. Choir is his forte. He's still "finding his rock voice" I guess. He does not post here.

It's different, yeah, and I would rather be a little out there than just settle for sounding like every other vocalist out there. Tons of people absolutely love them, so it works. A billion hate them too. He has excellent technique, and over time he'll gradually mesh with our sound better. It works for now, just sort of Muse-y and what not. I think it'll be just fine. Everyone is entitled an opinion and vocalists are the most receiving of criticism for any band. A ton of people loathe Spencer Sotelo, but just as many dig it. I hated him at first, and still prefer Casey, but he's good and fits for the band. He has a distinct voice, he doesn't sound like everyone else. Same here.

This explains a lot. To me, his vocals sounded like they didn't quite "fit", I guess.

For what it's worth, I enjoyed everything else that was happening under the vocals :tup

    Thanks bro.

Back to the vox though, his voice works very well for our softer things. For instance, if you ever get the chance to listen to Collage of the Present, that's my favorite for his voice.

You can here. Voice comes out well in the choruses/bridge parts. It's not any different, just better integrated with the music I suppose than whatever you heard maybe.

Yeah, I suppose that does fit a bit better. There's still something about the voice that kind of grates on me, though. Maybe I'm just a huge faggot. Either way, I'll stop shitting on your band now.

btw, the other song I heard was 'Monologue'.

Figured. The vocals were just very thrown together for that song. That's out of his range too almost. The second song is just more comfortable in all aspects.

    Thanks for listening though, dude.

I chose Shattered Skies. Their sound is something I can really get into. It's sort of technical, but it has this poppy and accessible charm and nuance to it that really pulls me in. I do like Tetrafusion, and I don't mean this as a dig towards any of the members, but a lot of the music sounds and feels formulaic and a bit forced at times.

I have to say dude thats like the only tetrafusion song I've liked so far, make more of this and get a better guitar tone (it sounds like its in a cardboard box)
