man the rb3 drumkit is awesome and pro mode is great. also the pads are way better (quieter, easier to play rolls, morre of them) then the gh wt kit. only 1 thing bugs me; the sensitivity or something of the yellow cymbal pad jacks up or something and i miss notes on the drum beats where you roll on the hihat pad eg everlong, crazy train etc. other then that pro drums is the shit also that i have to pay to import rb2 songs (a game that i paid £40 for) is kind of gay but meh.
I have a PS3 and want to get into Rock Bad, with the drum controller. Is there any particular game that I should get that'll ensure that I can enjoy the most DLC, etc? Btw, It would be nice to be able to play the Ziltoid pack when it comes out.
I would probably just get the newest one, since a lot of the improvements (especially pro drums) are in that one. You can still play any and all DLC with that game.
Yeah all DLC is compatible with all the RB games AFAIK. RB3 has a pretty decent setup. Plus. Pro modes and vocal harmonies, etc.
I might suggest going back and picking up the other games for cheap, unlocking the songs with codes, exporting, and then returning the games. That's what I do. A ton of the older, disc-only songs for cheap.
My RB1 drum set finally had the bass pedal snap. I accidentally (lol) bought a pro cymbal expansion at one point, so I finally feel more compelled to get a newer set. Fucking dammit.
I don't think I've mentioned this in a while, so... Zildjian anti-vibe sticks. BUY THEM. They make playing on an e-kit soooooo much easier. They have rubber injected throughout the entire center of the stick, so their bounce off of pads is far better than what you'd get from a normal stick.
New track: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q2cZDVCSXp4"]YouTube - "Dawn (Blood Saga I)/Through the Maelström" by Morgawr (RBN Expert Gameplay Preview)[/ame] Take THAT, Rock Band Network.
Just FYI, the Rock Band Network PS3 release schedule is MUCH different compared to Xbox 360. Often it takes months for songs to come out on PS3 after the 360. Furthermore, a majority of the songs aren't (or havent yet been) released on the PS3 at all. If you're waiting for the Devin Townsend pack, expect to wait a few months after release before it will come to PS3. You can see the differences in song availability and song release dates here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Rock_Band_Network_songs *This DOES NOT affect weekly music released as DLC from Harmonix. This only affects songs released through RBN, a majority of which is from local bands. The Devin Townsend stuff I'm pretty sure will be RBN, though.
Oh my god, my roommates just asked to play Rock Band with me. Which means they need my RB3 equipment. So we start playing, I'm doing expert bass, hitting 98%+ on expert all the time, and my roommate is either getting in the low 70s or failing on hard guitar. Other roommate is getting 95%+ on medium vocals, but who cares. So he storms off getting all pissy, I make a joke about showing him up. He insists on recalibrating, and then he does better on hard. Letting out a smug "Hmm." he changes his setting to expert. Getting raped and failing again, he goes back to hard. So because I want to go to bed, I say "Look, lemme play a song on guitar and I'll let you guys play forever." "What song?" "Roundabout, by Yes." Roommate immediately takes off his guitar and storms out "I HAVE NO DESIRE TO PLAY THIS SONG." tl;dr: I live with a bunch of butthurtt faggots who are bad at RB, and i'm a fucking nerd.
My bass pedal cracked awhile ago so until I do something to that I don't want anyone using the drums. Also, great faggy drunk posting by me last night.
Haven't played these games since Rock Band 2 was new. Still have Rock Band 1 equipment. Thinking about picking it back up. Is it worth it to get the Rock Band 3 equipment, or should I just get the disc?
Disc is pretty fine. I only bought the games for 2 and 3. Well, I bought the keyboard for 3, but I haven't invested in a new guitar or drums or anything. I want to get a new drumset sometimes to use the pro drum cymbals.
Anyone else get the Squire Guitar recently? I started playing mine last night and unfortunately it was not calibrated out of the box and I had to raise up the pickup all the way to nearly touching the strings to get the higher strings to strings to recognize consistently. Luckily there are no problems with thefret sensors and it does a great job at seeing where your fret positions are. The guitar itself is decent if you don't plan on actually using it as a real guitar since vibrato and string bends are not good since there are small grooves in the frets in between the strings. I am going to try and change the action when I get home tonight since it is very high and makes playing it difficult.
I bet with the amount of time you took to perfect that song on Rock Band you could have learned to play it on actual guitar.
Yeah. I loved playing theses games but I did not see the point of songs like that. They're actually easier on real guitar.
The best stuff in Rock Band are the intermediate difficulty stuff with a solid rhythm but a lot of little variations and/or fret hand movement. Easy enough to get the hang of on the first play through, but some repetition will get you muscle memory to be able to play it drunk with friends. The Pearl Jam and Grateful Dead stuff is a good example of this, as is most of the 80s butt rock. Super technical hyperspeed cyborg shit is just dumb for these games.
