I hear you on the acoustic. I have some shitty Epiphone that I've had since I was like 16. I also need a new mandolin, I completely destroyed my old one when I was moving (thankfully that instrument sucked as well). I really need to invest in some more gear.

my dad has three epiphone acoustics, they all play just fine but like my yamaha compass they aren't real wood and sound like shit. My 1965 yamaha s50a is great for its age but its laminate. my best acoustic is the baby taylor, sadly, i mean it's a nice little guitar but not for a main guitar.

my mandolin is a 1997 Tradition, as long as it has some nice fresh strings sounds great.

I'm addicted to wanting new instruments. i've already got my priority of next ones to buy. besides a nice acoustic i want a second nice acoustic, an electric bass, a standup bass, and a 12 string acoustic. then i'll be satisfied for a while at least. or so i told my wife.

specfically for acoustic, i've been shopping around and palying a lot at stores lately and I think i want a Taylor GS-8, and a Martin D-15m. I'd be happy with those two guitars for a long time I think.

I want to pick up one of those koa celebrity Ovation acoustics. It'd be a good go to acoustic and one that I wouldn't be worried about bringing to the beach and such. Although I really like my Uncles Tacoma acoustic (not sure what model), the thing plays so fucking nice. I also have my eye on those Babicz acoustics, but I won't be sold on one until I play one with my own hands.

As far as electric, I'm slowly realizing I am strictly a strat guy. I just love the feel and sound of them. I might pick up a tele soon. As far as mandolin, anything would be better than the one I had. I'd like to really get a nice one though, there is a place here in Connecticut that makes some BEAUTIFUL custom ones. The name escapes me now, but if I find it soona nd remember this discussion (lol) I'll post the site.

strats are the greatest guitar ever built, telecasters are not far behind. my 1994 mexican strat plays just as nice as my 2010 american tele, and they both feel and play better than any other guitar i've ever played besides other strats and teles. solid as fuck. my "new" used '06 PGM300 looks snazzier, has the easiest neck i've ever played on, and has much more uniqueness to it in sound and feel, but at the end of the day I'd still take either of my Fenders over it.

I've been playing guitar for 10+ years and have never owned an acoustic. I'll probably eventually get a nice Taylor from my workplace.

I wish Baden guitars were more common... I love my D Style Rosewood but it would be great to have another from them. The D Style is pretty amazing in its loud and defined sound, and the great feel of the neck.
