If you didn't have such an ugly mug, I might be inclined to play some jazz with you. I certainly wouldn't feature you as the lead soloist though.

How Ghandi of you, you non-Ghandi.

Yeah we'll just put you on your drum kit right on the front edge of the stage, i'm sure that shit'll fly.

Well I was thinking we could have a jazz trio featuring a ukulele player with you on rhythm guitar and me on bongos.

Here is a vid of me practice hihat splashing over just some random grooves and rudiment paradiddle fills. I watch back a lot of my practice sessions to see what ideas I come up with. Nothing worse than doing something great and then you can't figure it out a week later.

    The crappy Youtube video

Cool, thanks! Yeah, I should either have had it photocopied or memorised.

Also liked your stuff. The Under A Glass Moon solo was great. Do you have exclusive access to a guitar shop to record your videos?

I teach there and I make some quick demos for some of their gear when I'm done teaching to help them out. Didn't expect anyone to check the others out!

Also, thanks for the comment Chronowarp! I made a few short arrangements of standards, I guess this one might seem less samey if put in context with the others, but listening back with what you said in mind I definitely think there is room for improvement!

    N'sync faggit, not backstreet boys.

and i dont want to kill him because i don't like the backstreet boys (i love 90s pop), but because i have a gag reflex when metal bands do ironic covers of pop music. no offense, dan, its well produced and executed well and all that jazz, but it still makes me want to stick his dick in a vat of acid.

When it's for the sake of it, yeah, I'm not generally a fan. I never liked that song, whereas the Failure of Milk Poker Face cover works because it's a good song that works well in the style, and would have been a good song regardless. This falls into middle ground, I enjoy it but it doesn't set well next to the other songs you guys have released. Loving the new drummer though, I always thought the old one played a little behind the beat.

I can go with that. It's not really meant to sit anywhere near our own material, so I don't see that as much of a problem, lol.

The whole reason we did it was because we had an interview with TotalRock Radio, and they'd been having a discussion about cover songs earlier in the evening. As a joke they asked if we'd ever consider doing a Backstreet Boys cover, and for some reason we said yes and actually followed up on it. Turned out to be a fun testing ground for recording something with the new recruit before we start the album anyway, and we came up with most of the arrangement spontaneously in the studio, which was a very different way of working for us. That it came out as well as it did is just amusing to us more than anything. It was just a bit of fun, so if haters gonna hate then whatever. I really don't mind. :)

I dispute the notion that Poker Face is a good song though.

This is from a few years ago. Unplanned jam of an original blues tune of mine at the end of a long night of drinking and general debauchery. I'm on guitar and "vocals" :tard

One more - this one is really old. This is from a sound check for a gig that we played later on that night. As you look at the video, I'm the guitar player on the right side of the stage, playing the black guitar, wearing jeans and a red-stripped shirt. You can tell it's me from the 70's porn actor mustache :lol This is Thin Lizzy - "The Boys are Back"

This was good but you should have tuned your bass before. If you look closely you can notice yourself tuning it in the middle.

A little snippet from a practice session the other day. I was working on flam based rudiments and flam rolls, so this has a bunch of that, lots of 3 against 4, but I tried to keep the whole thing groovy. Lemme know what you think!

Here are two clips taken from a gig the other night by some random dude in the crowd, but I'm bummed because in the second one, the dude cut the video at my favorite drum moment of that tune, but oh well. The first tune is my favorite orchestration that I've come up with, it's a mallet and a triangle beater in my right hand, mallet and a hot rod in the left. The second beat is an homage to DJ Shadow for me. Lemme know what you guys think!

Sick playing, Funky Drummer! Your drumming is really fucking groovy in that second tune, I'd love jamming with you.

Here are a couple more solo-guitar arrangements I made, one for Billie Jean and one for I Wish. Sorry for the french-speaking and the re-tuning, if you want to skip straight to the tunes go to 0:30 for the first one and 5:30 for the second one.

I've also noticed that you appear to be an open handed player also, judging from your footwork I'm guessing you're normally a lefty? When I set up a kit I do it much like yours, but I don't have my own so I normally have to use a kit set up normally.
