    If the drums were backwards, wouldn't it say AHAMAY on them?

    Maybe he just sets them up that way 'cause it's natural for him that way. Left-handed or something.

    Oh wait... you're a drummer and are just being a dick. Sorry. lol

    I use my 6 string to play live more often but my pride and joy is my ibanez srx550 5 string.

    That's so nice. I wish I had the money for something like that, but seeing as I've only been playing bass a couple of years, and I'm not especially great yet, I couldn't really justify it. I'm happy enough with my EDB500 for now.

    yeah. it's my baby. don't be afraid to jump into a 5 string if you're interested in playing. go to a guitar pawn and find a cheaper one, play it, read online about it, ask questions to your friends about it, and then get into it. You don't have to find an incredible one if its only a couple hundred, and once you get your hands on a 5 string and used to it you won't want to go back to a 4 string (imo)

    yeah, we had an international project kinda thing.
    Basically re-mixed an old national Kazakh song. Kept the national elements in full, added drums and guitars.
    'twas a cool experience

    //
    here's a video of the song we were playing:
    [ame="http://youtube.com/watch?v=n693W7rF59A"]YouTube - kazakh dombra[/ame]

    We kept the whole thing, did a rearranged slightly, and added "modern" instruments

    @ the scoon: you'd look awesome onstage if you didn't wear your base so high, i couldn't even tell you were wearing an opeth shirt for a minute

    It's more comfortable and easier to play that way.

    I saw this kid once who had his strap down as far as it would go, his bass was literally at his knees...

    Well its harder to play with your bass low than it is high, so that kid was better than the dude with the opeth shirt, even though the kid with the super low bass was probably playing way easier stuff

    lol... I sparked a page's worth of ranting about strap height. Low strap is the shittest thing ever. I played like that for 2 years and I regret it. I couldn't play to save my life and my technique was fucking horrible. It isn't worth 'looking cool' to play like absolute balls.

    I don't look that stupid do I? :(

    How is having your guitar dangle at your knees "looking awesome". Looking awesome would be getting into the music and engaging yourself with the crowd, not wearing your guitar like a douchebag, and making it unplayable and uncomfortable.
