Overseas Administrator

I'm sure this has been discussed before and obviously I don't know how the administrator process works on this forum, but I was wondering if the forum should have an admin from Europe/Asia/Australia, as to balance out the timezones a little bit.

Perhaps the person could be trained to work on some of the technical issues with the site, if Thal isn't available or whatever. It also gives someone with administrative power who may be available when the other admins are not.

Just a random thought, and it doesn't really matter either way. I just thought it would make things easier overall for the admin staff.

Well, the big issue with administrative stuff + the site is that the real backend stuff, such as the issue last night, would require root access - and that becomes problematic due to the fact that the server I run 5/8 on due to the availability of resources also hosts a few other sites, including some businesses with confidential information. Fine and dandy for the site to run there since it's all segregated, but if I give someone else full admin access on the server itself, suddenly they can get at stuff that they really should not be getting at.

However, having an admin presence 12 hours separated from us over here would be beneficial for sure.

most of the time (late night) grunge and I are on... we dont sleep..lol.. or if i am crashed out he will IM me and wake me up if something is up... if there is down time like we had recently, Thal has asked me to call and wake his ass up... good thing I haven't had to do that.. I've heard he looks like shit when he first gets up..his hair is a mess before he perms it

I don't mind having admin permissions with access to other people's confidential information. I volunteer for the job.

Are any of the sites on the server meant for children?

We had an overseas admin, but he was fired for being more reasonable than the other admins in dealing out infractions.
