the explorable game world seems very impressive [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iAYBui5ghJ0"]YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.[/ame]
There's actually a ton of new media for Last Story, I just hasn't been posted here. Both games are lookin' pretty fucking great open the image in a new tab The following information comes from director, Hironobu Sakaguchi... - still fine-tuning the game - he has been allowed a lengthy period to do so - “There is also a lot of fine tuning, but when those pile up, it could be big. God is in the details. But I recently feel and have a sense to say; maybe I will become lonely when The Last Story is completed. It is the same pain such as my own child starting their journey.” - Sakaguchi likens the experience of finally releasing the game to the same experience he is living through with his daughter, who is soon moving away to college
Very story-focused, that trailer. I'm more looking forward to the battle system/skill trees at this point. Game's looking good though.
I mean comparatively, it still kinda does. But great visuals in gaming are 75% artistic design/aesthetic choices, 10% code optimization, and 15% raw hardware (to me at least)
I reckon it's about whether or not they were able to achieve what they were trying to achieve. For example, port downs to the wii generally have bad graphics. If you've built something ground up for the wii, it might have terrible graphics, but that's because the graphics are terrible, not because it's on the wii. I mean, there's games released thirty years ago that look great.
Damn. This game is pretty awesome. At first I was like "oh what the fuck is this auto-attack WoW shit?" (There are probably many other games that utilize some form of an auto-attack system, but this and WoW are the only one's I've come across) but I've found myself really getting into it. The funny thing is, though, that it's much more fun to play as the tanking support character rather than the main character. The main character 's role in the party is basically just to heal his friend, and it barely heals anything anyway. Gonna be annoying when the tank leaves the party in the story.
That's just at the very beginning. And his role is a lot about breaking enemies so other party members can topple them and then you can daze them. And he has a set of talents which are unique to him and you're pretty much required to play with him in some fights because other characters lack the skills you need and the AI can be pretty dumb sometimes and make a fight much more difficult if you aren't using him. But I don't really like playing with Shulk most of the time, I think there are a lot more interesting characters to play with. It's actually pretty cool that your playstyle can vary quite a lot depending on what character you are playing and what supporting characters you are using. The battle system is good fun but it really gets awesome once you have all the party members, most of the talents and you can do neat setups with skill links. I like playing with 3 offensive characters who have some secondary healing skills. It's a risky strategy and some bosses are impossible to beat like that but it's a lot of fun because you can finish off most enemy groups much quicker and if you know what you are doing, you don't really have to worry about healing, you just need to pay attention and stay on your toes which is cool, I hate how a lot of RPG's have normal encounters which aren't challenging at all. I'm pretty far in the game and it's definitely the best JRPG I have played for a long time. Story gets quite cool too.
Fiora has break talents as well, though, doesn't she? Or does she only have that one break talent throughout the game and Shulk learns a bunch more? I usually hate JRPGs that aren't Kingdom Hearts, the Tales series, or made by Nintendo, but I'm surprised at how many JRPGs are coming out that I'm actually excited for, namely this, The Last Story and FF Versus XIII.
A lot of playable characters have break arts, actually. But I'm just saying you'll be using a lot of that if you're playing with Shulk while you won't really be doing much healing unless you play like I do, without a healer in your party. Playing Shulk is more about controlling aggro so that your tank is being attacked and Shulk can use his side/back talents for good damage and bonus effects. Shulk will learn a lot of new talents pretty early in the game (not break talents but other stuff).
started Xenoblade this evening. I've never really seriously played a modern JRPG (like, from the last 15 years) so it's a very new experience. got me hooked though, put a few solid hours in already.
Yeah it's a really fun battle system. I haven't been able to get a chance to play since my last post in this thread and it's killing me.
yeah i saw that. Now I can stop pretending not to be interested! I will definitely be purchasing this, but I was honestly a bit more interested in the last story, so i hope this game is successful and that inspires them to release that in NA as well.
kinda stupid that theyre making it exclusive to Game Stop when it was the most preordered game on Amazon for months. I haven't bought a Wii game since Mario Kart Wii, but I might buy this even if it'll help even a little to get NoA to release all of the other games theyve been holding out on us.
http://wii.ign.com/articles/121/1219199p1.html I was hoping for this bit of info to be announced today, and it was.
I'm borrowing Xenoblade from a friend right now. It actually threw me a little the first time I heard the English voice actors. Too used to hearing American voices. Really good game so far. Although, I really hope they stop repeating the same phrases over and over again. That's starting to get a little grating.
I didn't think they were that bad. Better than most American dubs. The Japanese voices were way too over the top imo.
The Last Story's narrator tries too hard to sound like Morgan Freeman and is kinda annoying. My only other gripe is that the fact that your health and lives regenerate after every battle, making the game too easy. Otherwise, this game is really fun and much better than Xenoblade.
bought this on friday but don't got my wii so haven't had the chance to play it yet. based on reviews & what i have seen about the game, i find it hard to believe it could be better than xenoblade though but we'll see, i'll get my wii back tomorrow.
I'm just not really a fan of auto-attack gameplay, which TLS does have, but you can change it to manual.
So I tried playing this on my actual Wii instead of Dolphin because emulating TLS still isn't perfect. Why do Wii games never look as good as the official stills and gameplay trailers? On any other console it's the other way around. I'm using component cables.
