I love the Jesus Fuego cigars. I picked up a few from a local cigar shop the other day. I started smoking cigars a few months ago, and its definitely a hobby that I really enjoy. I never really smoke more than one or two a week though.

oh nice. i've never had them before, but CI is usually very reliable with their descriptions, and for 1.60 a pop it's hardly a deal breaker if they're just aight instead of good/great.

glad you've found it an enjoyable hobby. :)

i rarely smoke more then 5 or 6 times a month now, now that i'm married and my wife is allergic to smoke. :(

which is a far cry from my days as a bachelor, when it was more like 5-6 a week. xP

Yeah, I've learned a lot about cigars lately. I found a locally owned cigar shop only 15 minutes away from home. They're actually the biggest shop specializing in cigars in the state. I've had the owner show me around their huuuuuuuge walk in humidor quite a few times. I always ask him to recommend things. I've found that I prefer a stronger cigar with a darker wrap. And also a fatter cigar. I also enjoy a 'double-wrap' cigar on occasion. And as far as cutting the cigar goes, I prefer a V-cut.

i enjoy the darker smokes as well, but have been quite enamored of the punch of late.

and a ring guage of 54 or bigger is just awesome. :yay

That looks like a good deal, indeed. I may take up on that offer. And yes, I agree. Fatter cigars are much more enjoyable IMO. I think they have better flavor than a smaller cigar or cigarillo.

so moving on to Mikes HARDER lemonade with a shot or two of vodka. xP

i gots to have me a drink when i smoke.

Same here. I think they compliment each other well. The other day, I had a nice Gurkha with a glass of coconut rum. It was quite enjoyable.

Makes me wonder if there's any point in getting in to cigars if I don't drink.

The solution is to start drinking rather than not smoke, too. It really is one of life's better pleasures, I think.

i smoked cigars for three years before i started drinking.

water makes a surprisingly good companion, but strong dark coffee or espresso are the true compliments.

Totally, totally disagree. I prefer a light roast 75% of the time in general, and find that it goes well with a cigar. More complexities in the flavor, in my experience.

in dark black coffee, there are SO many complexities.

but like everything else, you have to have to palette for it. :p

ACID cigars are interesting for sure...but you can't keep them in your humidor, because they'll diffuse and muck up the rest of your stash.

    they're "flavor infused".

instead of like, dipping them in a vat of orange syrup or whatever the fuck they do for blunts, they enclose the cigars with the things they want to infuse it with and let the flavors work into the cigar.

i've only had one, and like i said, it's pretty good.

personally i like CIGARS and the way they taste, and whatever concotion of flavors they want to artificially force upon the tobacco. ;)

Haha, I usually don't keep too many cigars at once. I don't own a humidor, so I usually just go buy a cigar when I want one.

well if you're ever wanting to start buying in larger quantities to save some cash, let me know and i'll show you a good deal or two. ;)

ok, now i'm off to smoke one of my new arrivals.

    the Nica Libre 1990.

no idea what to expect, but it's a nice looking cigar for what it's worth.

paired with my other bottle of The Speyside 12 Year. :)

I've worked my way up now from my shitty Panter half-coronas to a wider range of Vasco Da Gama coronas.

Just picked one up yesterday, whiskey-aged :tup

I really need to get some kind of small portable humidor though.

I attempted to smoke one of my older Vasco coronas the other night and it failed epicly. The mouth end had a giant fucking crack in it that just kept getting bigger - I eventually just emptied the tobacco from the mouth side out a bit and kept the crack to the floor so smoke wouldn't escape from it - damn annoying.

Point is, I need a humidor, but not a massive one.

Can you even get small humidors? Like, the size of a glasses-case or something.

I'm in need of one of these. The one you posted looks like a good investment. I'm just worried that my cigars will go bad if I don't have a humidor. And we all know that cigars aren't cheap.

But speaking of cheap cigars, I have a story:

The other day, my friend walked into jazz band. He had a strong smoky smell on him and I was really, really curious as to what he'd been smoking. The smell was very reminiscent of the pipe tobacco that I've been smoking as of late so I inquired. He pulled out a foil wrapper out of his pocket and handed me a small cigar that looked like something that Clint Eastwood would have smoked in an old western. I went outside and tried it, and I was really impressed, especially since it was so cheap. And despite how cheap they were, they were even wrapped like a traditional cigar. He said they were something like 6 bucks for a pack of 8.

you'd be better off getting something like what i was talking about in the PM. much easier to deal with than the travel humidors.

    was it something like this?:

i used to be obsessed with mini cigars. i'd buy 4 or 5 different brands and varieties.

they're treated, and won't age in a humidor, but will stay fresh much longer without any special care because of it.

they're great for when you only have 15 minutes and want to enjoy some quality smoke time. however, around here it's more like $15 for 10, so it's still a little bit of money to drop. especially when i can get full sized cigars for not much more. sometimes less.

Yeah it was something like that. And the cigars I picked up the other day are as follows:

    La Primadora Emperor Maduro (Churchill)

    Flor de Oliva (Churchill)

    Cuban Aristocrat (Perfecto)

    Occidental Reserve (Torpedo)

I haven't tried any of them yet, but I can't wait until I have the opportunity. What are your opinions on each of them?

i'm only familiar with the Flor de Oliva, which is a good smoke, but too light for my tastes. i always end up smoking it too fast due to it's mild body, and then it gets hot and i burn the roof of my mouth, which is no fun. :(

those are pretty cheap here, how much did you pay for it?

hitting up happy hour at a local restaurant for cheap wings, cheap drinks, followed by a nice cigar.

I believe that it was actually the cheapest of the bunch. I'm thinking that I paid no more than $3.50 or $4 for that particular cigar.

The ones I'm looking forward to trying the most are the La Primadora and the Cuban Aristocrat. The La Primadora has 'Nicaragua' on the band and has a very, very dark wrap. I have preferred darker cigars in the past, so it should be nice. The Aristocrat has a very defined taper on both ends. It's not too terribly long, but each end tapers all the way to nearly the center of the cigar. It should be a good smoke. And it's cuban seed tobacco, which I've enjoyed in the past.

yeah i paid $2 a pop for a brick of 25 Flor de Olivas, so $3-$4 is about right individually.

Nicaraguan tobacco is the BEST tobacco. <3

I'm still looking for a cigar that I like enough to buy a brick of. That'd make it come out so much cheaper. And I mean, if I get a big enough humidor, I can keep it stocked with lots of cigars that I enjoy.

Those things are great. I've had mine for a few years and it's a horse. The only downside is the continual refilling, but it seems much more reliable than the more expensive pipe lighters like Colibri, plus you cannot beat their warranty.

I never use my (non pipe) zippo just because I'm too lazy to refill it :lol But my dad is a big fan of zippos and apparently never minded refilling them when he used to have them.

    With my roommate,

I was drinking some bourbon (knob creek) on the rocks, he was drinking a gin and tonic -- We were both sitting outside on my porch while watching snow fall..

    Pretty fucking epic IMO
