They're definitely different, but they have a large shared fanbase, admire each other's work and have toured together more than once, so I think a comparison is fair.
I fucking love Oceansize but I still like Porcupine Tree better. I mean, not their recent output, but my old favorites. The next album could very well change that, though. These guys keep getting better and PT keeps getting worse.

Oceansize only has like 4 albums, one of which is good. Whereas PT has like 10 albums and practically all of them from The Sky Moves Sideways forward are masterpieces. So I don't think this is a fair fight. I abstain.

yes because every single Oceansize album is a masterpiece and far better than any album from PT (except maybe SPWTFO)
there are some songs on frames that i like more than anything pt has done, but in terms of number of songs/albums i enjoy pt wins pretty easily.
I hate competition or choosing between two bands, but I'd say I prefer PT and I would rather listen to them generally. I like them both in their own way.
