yea seems like a shoddy port, the only thing I can say is that demo is quite dated at this point, played at E3 2011 and created before that even. It's possible that significant tweaks could have been made since then. I don't need to replay that game anyway . . .
I was looking forward to this but fuck it, MGS HD collection is more than good enough for me. Can't be dealing with the shitty controls or paying for a peripheral when I can play it on a console and have 2 and Peace Walker with it.
Doesn't sound good. I'll probably get it anyway. I already own 4 copies of Snake Eater, and I'll be getting the HD collection at some point. Why not 6?
4 ? Why ? I just have the 3 disc subsistence and the HD set. I'm assuming you have the original and sub, what's the other two ?
lol, THAT DEMO. Graphics are worse than the launch titles on the original PSP, controls are unfathomably bad, menus are horribly laid out. So much disappointment crammed into such a small device.
PAL Snake Eater NTSC Snake Eater NTSC MGS Collection (sealed) NTSC Subsistence Unfortunately don't have the three disc subsistence, I'll take yours off your hands, if you like, though. For no other purpose than collection.
Man I know what I could get for that collection and I've still never been tempted to sell it. It's my favourite game series. If I ever do decide to do so though, I'll let you know fella.
Game Gear games on virtual console imminent - options include: screen mode, system color, ghosting/after image, performance - system color menu allows for for black, blue, yellow and red rough example of the 'screen mode'
thats not how it's actually going to look, but a crude rendering. it will be similar to the option where you can play GameBoy and GameBoy Color games inside of a border that resembles the original device. again, just an option. you can have the game image take up the bulk of the screen with some stretching. the above mode will display the original dimensions which is why they have it available. that particular game image looks very dim because they're showing what it will look like when games are paused and the game screen is dimmed
So Tales of the Abyss came out for 3DS a week ago. Everywhere I look it's "Temporarily out of stock" or "backordered," but I was told from my friend that they probably won't restock because of a limited print. I haven't been able to find a source on that, though. Joe, would you be able to confirm?
Just like the horrible Game Boy Color VC screen ratio. If I wanted to play a game on a screen that small, I would use my homosexual little Game Boy Micro and destroy my eyes trying to see what's going on. Why can't they just get with the times and fit the games to the (shitty) 3DS screen without making you choose between laughably small or horribly stretched? Good for all you guys who can find some kind of merit in Nintendo's selfish, lazy and backwards-thinking ideas about their industry and their fans, but I just can't do it anymore. I am officially announcing my departure from the world of Nintendo (not that anyone actually cares lol). My avatar and sig will remain though because every time I look at my 3DS, I laugh at it in disgust just like Reggie.
Get with the times? It's emulation -stretched or small are the only two options. Do you seriously think Nintendo should remaster every game that other developers submit? Even though they don't own the IP or have access to the source code, and it could fundamentally change how the game functions? One of the stupidest posts I've read. Hardcore stupid.
Well, the stretching/blurring etc technique they are using is pretty assy overall so I could see a complaint about that. The GBA games from the ambassador program look worse on my 3ds than they do emulated on my (less powerful) psp.
What's stopping them from remastering the games that they do own all the rights to? A professional programmer could find a way to up the resolution without fundamentally changing the game, they just don't because they know their fans will settle for shitty little ports. Lazy. Btw I don't know anything about game programming so I could be totally wrong, I just hate this company and I will vehemently fight all rational logic to continue hating them.
You are totally wrong. The game assets are all in 1 resolution. Short of reworking all the art.... the engine.... and going through a massive bug testing phase for every game, its pretty much a silly idea. They would have to rewrite major parts of the games. For 3d games yeah, but 2d no.
Understood. But why, then, can random hackers come up with better emulation software than Nintendo? Like you said, I've been playing better looking emulations on the PSP for years.
More time spent really. While it seems like it should be the other way around... people who volunteer their time (and many many years of overall development etc) will get better results. For nintendo its resources and cost. It really doesn't make sense for them to dedicate a lot of resources towards it when there is little to gain from doing so when they could use those resources improving games in development or adding features to the system. That said it probably wouldn't take much time or effort to put in a few options for the scaling (different filters etc), but at the same time they have to think of the end user.... will that be something the average person loves or is it something that will confuse them. I think it would be a boon but nintendo has clearly been on the other side of this fence for their entire existence, hell they dont even advertise the features for scaling they do have in place... you have to look them up because people randomly found holding different buttons on launch does shit.
Ambassadors have GBA already, but they are refining the emulation so it's a bit less restricted and then they'll be up.
Would like to see some actual gameplay besides just walking around before I decide whether I'm interested or not.
I got Resident Evil Revelations, and man, what a game. This is what i've been expecting from this console. Absolutely stunning.
Are you playing with the right circle pad attachment? I tried playing the demo without it and got frustrated at times because I couldnt move and aim at the same time.
No, i just got the simple edition of the game, without the circle pad pro. I haven't had any problems with the controls, i think they are quite similar to the RE4 controls on GC. You can move and shoot at the same time by holding the L button, but it's true you can't aim at the same time. I kinda like this though, it becomes more frightening when you are surrounded by many creatures.
