    you honestly hear zero progression?

I'm really loving the drones and various chord work I'm hearing Fredrick lay down behind lots of the riffs

I listened to it after letting it rest for about a week and it's still great. The final track is pretty much useless, though.

Did you not notice it on... every other album also? That goes back as far as DEI. I listened to that album yesterday and thought what you just said. I mean the idea from Beneath at 3:30 was used again in The Demon's Name Is Surveillance (also at 3:30) for eg. Then they do the same thing anyway at 3 minutes into the next song. If those "things" are what you are referring to, they are littered all over everything they've done since DEI.

If you're talking about the stuff like in Behind The Sun, well Catch 33 perfected that shit (Sum, Dehumanize, etc.) and has better riffs and is a post industrial/metal hybrid masterpiece that they will never touch again.

These are my least favorite Thordendal leads too. Go listen to DEI and compare those fucking pants shittingly awesome alien like Holdsworth leads to... anything on this one.

You guys should feel bad for making me think this would be one of their best albums. Joe, if you can point to one new thing on this album that they hadn't done before, I would like you to do this for me. I've only heard the album once so of course things are going to pop up I missed, but you guys all freaked like I did on my first DEI, I and C33 listens and got my fucking hopes up it might happen again. You fucking assholes.

How anybody can hear this as anything other than the most diverse Meshuggah album is beyond me.

Nice strawman, peen licker. I never even touched on diversity. However, a collection of your past done in inferior ways does not a good album make.

    3/5. Fuck you.

i never really implied that the stuff I mentioned was brand new, but i think it's being used with some changes to their guitar/bass tones that sound awesome. furthermore there are grooves littered throughout this album that make me bang my head. solid grooves. there are also subtle uses of melody in the rhythm guitars that work well in parallel to alot of the leads. Again not brand new, but continued and awesome

I already stated earlier that this is certainly not their best album, but I guess I'm just not as down on it as you are; or very down on it at all

comes down to expectations I guess, and those can be awful awful things

Also the bass is just too much on this one. Too much kick. They were pushing it on I, but I liked it. This is just a warm poofy fart in the pant'loons. And where's the fucking razor edge to this shit? "organic" my ass. Someone's ass anyway. One day I hope they have production like DEI or Chaosphere again. That was sinister acid spewy shit that wanted to cut you. Neo-mesh has kinda bugged me since about I in that sense actually. it more bwow's than slices. Cool in it's own right, but what about a SLICING BWOW? I WANT FUCKING SLICEY BWOW LIKE A SHBWOWCE OR SOMETHING

I don't get english. I thought we were talking about the rights of that sound. It has a right, all it's own, and it is very possessive of this right. Is it like a right to vote? because then wouldn't it be it's own right to vote?

I don't know what that saying means actually now that I think about it. Fuck you assholeteroid

this is the dumbest shit I've ever read on this board and I don't respect you anymore for it.

Chaosphere has the worst production of any of their albums, it's just one muddy mess. If you prefer that to being able to distinguish intruments from each other, then I'd say fuck you and everything that you stand for, good sir.

I prefer acidy spewing slices sometimes because I appreciate the aesthetic of music as much as content. Bie a man.

shut the fuck up, it fits the album amazingly. the bass is razor sharp and a real presence, the guitars are crushingly heavy and perfectly dirty, it has the best vocal production/performance out of any meshuggah album and the leads are creepy as fuck.

    still enjoying this

when I listen to DEI, I honestly have trouble understanding how they were writing shit like that back in '94.

Catch 33 is a masterpiece that can never and should never be equaled by this band

    Which? ID-IS or DNIS?

Houston crowd, there was a decent number of females. 10-15% of crowd? (Decent for a metal show)

Don;t know but after I watched the bonus DVD from Koloss I felt depressed. The whole thing was sad. Maybe was the editing , or the Meshuggah guys are camera unfriendly.

they were oddly edited. the India footage was really more about the difficulties of touring than anything else
