You're right, I don't get infractions for using racial slurs. I guess I really don't care except that I think it will just lead to frustration on the part of the mods and that it will change the overall atmosphere of the place. All that this will do, given enough time to settle in, is lead to a new meme where people use "nagger" (or whatever) in place of the other word whenever they want to use it and not get infracted. So basically, people who were offended by the other word will still know what people really mean and they will still get offended and complain. What are you gonna do then, ban "nagger"? They'll just find something new and creative to use. Then the mods will have no choice but to backtrack on the whole thing (looking weak) or start basing infractions on intent even if there is no banned language used. Someone will be talking about a black co-worker and get infracted because some mod thought he was trying to insult black people. And somewhere along the way, people will start to feel like the words that offend them should be treated the same way. Someone female who might be annoyed that the n-word can't be used anymore will decide that she has a problem with people saying bitch, since it is historically derogatory against women. What are you gonna do then? You either will look hypocritical or be forced to ban a word that is currently allowed on TV.

If you really wanted everything to be just the way as before, but better enforced, then why have grunge make an announcement that looks very much like a big forum change? Why make it look like a strict word ban is being enacted? Why not just pick the next real racist comment, infract it normally for racism, and follow it up with a post that says there have been too many complaints about that kind of stuff and it needs to be cut back a bit.

maybe that thread wasnt worded quite right.. but.. the reason we posted it was so that ppl would be informed... going back to the transparency thing... either way.. there would still be some sort of an uproar if we just started to enforce the rules "harder" without informing... I see you point clearly... thing is its really hard to make everyone happy... as Bacong and others have said in different "mods" threads.... there is always going to be a small group that is upset about something... usually when the staff tries to enforce the rules that we have... i do agree that this place has a lot of spam... a lot of it is ok.. but when something is posted over and over and over just for the sake of it.. that's when its infracted... cuz some spam is funny like that 5/8 vs DTF thread... it actually has some sort of purpose...not like ppl going into ever thread and posting " i care", "the count of tuscany", "u mad bro"..ect... that is spam just for the sake of spamming... we do know there is a difference...

2. most of the necromancy infractions are given for bumping the thread just for the sake of bumping... I personally let it slide if a thread is bumped and the post that bumps it has further discussion on the thread topic..

if the post is just "bump" then yea I'll infract it.. same goes for all those bumps of old elmo threads that appear to be just him posting... we had a few members that all they would do was bump those threads...

I've said it before and I'll say it again:

The admins of this site are the ones who run it. They make the rules. The mods enforce the rules. If you don't like either a rule that is in place and/or the fact that a rule is enforced, then no one is forcing you to post here.

If things are really as bad as some of you are making them out to be, then stop posting. If everyone really feels that way, this place really will die. But you know what? I feel that those of you complaining are in the minority, so even if you stop posting, 5/8 will continue without you.

I don't really want anyone to stop posting (well except ubarhax), that's not what I'm trying to get at here, I'm saying that making threads like this isn't really going to change anything. I understand that you guys like it here, as do I, but I promise that your efforts are in vain and it's really just a gigantic waste of time.

cram it nigger. this community has transcended boards and administrators. nobody is obligated to e-suck other member's interdicks just because they're temporarily handling a few menial board-related tasks. if they're making stupid rules, being overbearing, and creating a generally ANTI-FUN environment, we don't have to accept it. moderators are garbage men, not police officers. they should get rid of real spam (adbots, etc) and not try to manipulate post quality.

people who keep on whining "something needs to be done about all these shitty posts" really need to discover the ignore feature already. It renders moderators redundant and blocks what you want to be blocked, rather than whatever they arbitrarily deem a no-no. I have tons of fags ignored and everything is peachy.

This really is pretty ridiculous. I just can't believe that the mods can't see the futility of a blanket ban on words. Surely it makes more sense to just infract for posts that are intending to cause racial/sexist/whatever offense to another poster, rather than this new 'policy'. Won't affect me, but it's still ridiculous. Tech was absolutely right in his post but clearly the sensible approach to this issue is not going to be taken.

For what it's worth, I didn't mean for this thread to turn into this shitfest. I know I instigated a lot of shit, but really, the coolest thing about this forum in my opinion is the laid back vibe of it, really. It makes for some serious lulz and cool conversation and it's hard to find a community like this elsewhere, so I just don't wanna see it get fucked up, because a lot of the time it feels like the posters and MODs are on different wavelengths.
