http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/song-premiere-minus-the-bear-lonely-gun-20120629 new song. dem claps. AUG 28 release! Song in the trailer sounds gorgeous.
Aww yeah, none of that ultra-poppy shit in that clip, like on Omni. Here's hoping it's more like albums previous to Omni. edit: Aw yeah full song in da link. Sweet.
I am extremely excited for this, but the song in the link sounds like it could've been a bside to omni. I fucking love that album though so there will be no tears from me :3
the song in the video however sounds fucking incredible and reminds me a lot of HRP which makes me meow
goddamnit why the fuck did this have to leak during my lunch break. the next five hours are going to literally kill me seriously I'm never going to hear this album because I'm going to be FUCKING DEAD. literally. literally
Love Planet of Ice, Highly Refined Pirates, hated Omni, and have never heard Menos el Oso (don't kill me). Not sure if interested in this album.
Ignoring leak, will wait till next week. We might go see them in October, if I have a new job by then. I'd love to see them again.
Listened to it once and enjoyed it more than I thought it was. I hated Omni at first but it actually grew on me quite a lot, but this actually sounds better after one listen. I had presumed they were going to get worse after Omni.
Heard this album for the first time finally, loved it. They manage to change a tiny bit and keep things fresh while not losing what I love about them. Catchy, groovy, clever. Also bigger guitars than OMNI, I think. I expected the drum beat at the start of "Empty Party Rooms" to lead to a jaunty instrumental jam but then it didn't.
so my friend posted a picture of mtb playing on instagram after having followed cory murchy (mtb's bassist). someone commented asking how the show was and my friend responded that mtb was awesome other than a few shitty new songs, and cory just comments "wow" and then posts this on twitter: lolllllllll fuck this dude
was it mondragon? awhile ago he linked me to a new song and said it was the funniest thing he's ever heard
y'all is cray. HrP is amateurish through and through, and I understand why. I mean, MeO, PoI, and Omni all have 1/2 star higher rating on http://www.allmusic.com so clearly im right and you're wrong
^ yes it is. the whole album is great. i honestly don't understand why people that like the band don't like this (or omni, for that matter)
Pretty decent album. I have never listened to this band before, so my reaction is that it sounds like Thrice with some instrumental parts that sound like Dream Theater or Protest the Hero. I wish the songs were a little more catchy, though, and I wanted more of those proggy technical parts on other songs. Diamond Lightning is awesome as are a couple other tracks. How does this album compare with their other albums?
i really like this album. i enjoyed their classic albums back in the day, but i haven't listened to them for a while. this is a damn fine output, though.
Just listened to the first song on this album and liked it more than anything off of Omni. Omni turned me off from the band big time, but I'm gonna give this one a shot.
