Thought: "Nobody hears me (nobody hears me) I crept in so soft! And nobody sees me (nobody sees me) As I watched six steps off." I love this song

i love how he says that line. i threw a small stone down at the reflection of my image in the water and it altogether disappeared i burst as it shattered through me like a bullet through a bottle and i'm expected to believe that any of this is real
fuck. this thread is making me really want to listen to the discography in its entirety, but I've played every song individually about 100 times this week and am scared of over-listening
the deeply dissatisfied king climbed the same stem to announce the same thing. But in his second appeal sought to sweeten the deal with a silver padparadscha ring. The lieutenant stepped out from the line (trumpets) as he lassoed his thorax with twine (trumpets again) thinking, "I'm stronger and braver and I'll earn the king's favor. One day all he has will be mine." But for all the lieutenant's conceit, he too returned singed, and admitting defeat, "I had no choice, please believe, but retreat, it was bright as the SUN but with ten times the heat. and it cracked like the THUNDER and bloodshot my eyes Though smothered in sticks, it advanced undeterred, carelessly cast an ash cloud to the SKY my lord like a flock of dark ravishing birds hmmmmm mmmmmm mmmm hmmmmmm hmmmmhmm hmmm
In other news, I think I'm the only mwY fan whose least favorite song on the new album is The King Beetle.
How can that be when it has the most epic ending since FWLP2? I shed more tears listening to that song than my mother over my death in this dream I had a few months back.
I don't know. Admitted, I love the lyrics, but the song itself does very little for me. I think my least favorite part of the new album is the over-blown string arrangements, so that might be part of it.
I haven't even heard the new album yet, but I'm really looking forward to it. Can someone perhaps give me the gist of people's opinions on it/how it sounds in comparison to their others, just so I can feel caught up before I give it a listen?
THE BEETLE KING SLAMMED DOWN HIS FIST "YOUR FLOWERY DESCRIPTIONS NO BETTER THAN HIS! WE SENT FOR THE GREAT LIGHT AND YOU BRING US THIS WE DIDN'T ASK WHAT IT SEEMS LIKE, WE ASKED WHAT IT IS" HIS MAJESTY'S HOUR AT LAST HAS DRAWN NIGH THE ELEGANT QUEEN TOOK HER LEAVE FROM HIS SIDE AND WITHOUT ASKING QUESTIONS BUT WITHOUT ASKING WHY GATHERED THEIR KIDS TO COME BID THEIR GOODBYES THE FATHER EXPLAINED, "YOU'VE BEEN SOMEWHAT DECEIVED YOU'VE ALL CALLED ME YOUR DAD, BUT YOUR TRUE DAD'S NOT ME. I LAID NEXT TO YOUR MOM AND YOUR FORMS WERE CONCEIVED BUT YOUR FATHER'S THE LIGHT WITHIN ALL THATCHA SEE HE FILLS UP THE PONDS AS HE EMPTIES THE CLOUDS HOLDS WITHOUT HANDS, AND HE SPEAKS WITHOUT SOUNDS PROVIDES US WITH THE COW'S WASTE AND THE COCONUTS TO EAT GIVING ONE THAT NICE SALT TASTE AND THE OTHER A SWEET SENDS THE BLACK CARRIAGE THE DAY DEATH SHOWS ITS FACE THINNING OUR NUMBERS WITH KINDNESS AND GRACE AND JUST AS A FLOWER AND ITS FRAGRANCE ARE ONE SO MUST EACH OF YOU AND YOUR FATHER BECOME NOW I DISTRIBUTE MY SCEPTER, MY CROWN AND MY THRONE AND ALL WE'VE KNOWN AS WEALTH TO THE POOR AND ALONE" WITHOUT FURTHER HESITATION, WITHOUT LOOKING BACK HOME THE KING FLEW HEADLONG INTO THE BLAZING UNKNOWN AND AS THE SMOKE RING CURLED HIGHER AND HIGHER THE TROOPS FLYING LOOPS AROUND THE TELEPHONE WIRE SAID "OUR BELOVED'S NOT DEAD, BUT HIS HIGHNESS INSTEAD HAS BEEN UTTERLY CHANGED INTO FIRE!" WHY NOT BE UTTERLY CHANGED INTO FIRE? fuck FUCK just THINKING about that section is giving me wicked chills FUCK
Yeah, I guess musically it's one of my least favorites, but the lyrics make it one of the best. Expect a lot more folk, and a lot less angst. Most have agreed that it's a stellar album, but on the lower end of their just about perfect discog. I've always had a hard time placing them. They each seem to suit me the best at different times.
it's safe to say it's much more accessible than the rest of their stuff. much folkier, much more pastoral, much more metaphorical. and the lyrics are less introspective- it's all crazy's lyrics revolve more around viewing one's self within the scope of the world. i personally don't like it quite as much as brother sister or cfutf, but it's still an awesome album nonetheless
You think you're you, but you don't know who you are. You're not you. You're everyone else. YOU'RE EVERYONE ELSE YOU'RE EVERYONE ELSE YOU'RE EVERYONE ELSE YOU'RE EVERYONE ELSE YOU'RE EVERYONE ELSE YOU'RE EVERYONE ELSE YOU'RE EVERYONE ELSE YOU'RE EVERYONE ELSE
I recommend everyone read some of Bawa Muhaiyaddeen's corresponding children's stories (and other works) to help appreciate their newest and previous albums even more. My love you, my children.
I'm going in not expecting to like it quite as much as those two, though obviously I hope I'm surprised. I like the sound of what you're having to say about it. I'll report back after I've had a listen or two.
Yes. I appreciate A to B: Life a lot more than I used to... Silencer is just... an emotional trainwreck, it's so awesome
i've said it in the other thread, but this part reminds me of the "why not be crushed into wine" bit from CFUTF. <3
I started this album last night and couldn't really get into it--nowhere near as much as any of their other 3, but I dunno, I'm certainly not giving up. Will listen again later, probably, and all the way through.
It's a grower. It's also the easiest to sing along to once you know the words. A little less moody though
Indeed, and I expected as much. And actually, I liked all of their first three on first listens, thought it wasn't until later listens that I really dug under their skin and got to know them very well (but that's the case with many albums). This one had nothing at all popping out of its seams, but again, I didn't finish it, though I plan to later tonight, so we'll see. But rest assured I plan to give it all the digestion time I think it needs, but there is always the chance I just won't really like it
so you're telling me that The Angel of Death Came to David's Room, Fig With a Bellyache and King Beetle on the coconut Estate did nothing for you? i'm just going to have to go ahead and call bullshit on this one.
