Yeah, you definitely have to play the others. Playing ME3 without playing the previous 2 games is probably boring and confusing (and you don't get as attached to the characters).

Just unlocked Turian Sentinel in a recruit pack. (arms)

Now I'm tanking and I'm burning down defenses and I'm shooting dudes in the face with a shotgun and best of all I'm a Turian, bitch. Multiplayer is too much fucking fun.

I don't see why some people are upset about the ending. The whole game felt like one big ending. You literally spend the game tying up loose ends and uniting everyone to ensure the survival of the entire galaxy.

But yeah--damn near flawless series and one of the most important pieces of Sci Fi writing in recent decades.

I'm gonna miss saving the galaxy with all my friends. :(

I'm about 15 hours in and thus haven't experienced the ending everyone's hating on yet, but at this point, however bad the ending may or may not be, in won't really stop me from loving this game or franchise (in the same way that some of the awful nonsense in the final Harry Potter book didn't really ruin Harry Potter for me). At any rate, so far at least I'm finding this to be a huge improvement over ME2 (although perhaps still not as good as ME1). There are some really great character development moments in this game, and the writing is absolutely superb.

My mom thought the premier of the game trailer was a movie trailer and keeps asking me when it's going to come to theaters.

With ME3's options she may as well get to experience it as a movie.

I've been putting insane amount of hours into the multiplayer. Something I hadn't expected at all.

haven't even touched the multiplayer yet.

The one thing I'm not perfectly fond of is the scanning for resources and stuff you need for certain characters on the citadel. The whole quest log is pretty messed up with just this long list of things and contrary to part 2 it doesn't update the entries. It's just a pain in the ass to do all the side stuff.

The dialogues are the best thing about this series though. It's so much fun to choose an option and hear what will come out of Sheperd's mouth.
I hope they'll do a "Mass Effect - Vice City Stories" kind of side game situated between the main games.

Some of the Citadel quests may be completed by getting the information for 1k from the spectre terminal. This is only for the quests that have the information on planets where there is a bigger quest located iirc, and if you finish that quest without exploring the rest of the compounds.

I found it mindblowing and genius because i was more interested in the overall Reaper story, and the cycle and faith of the Galaxy in the ME lore. I really don't understand what are the complaints about.

Bioware should just say fuck the haters. Even if the ending is shit I dont like the precedent of fans complaining and getting the ending changed. We already have big enough issues with this and movies (focus groups and pressure from above forcing "happy" ends to everything).

Now if all they do to respond is clarify bits of the end, or maybe just add a couple more details etc.... fine.... but still fuck em.

I'd never be so brazen as to ask a writer to change the ending of their story, but I wouldn't object to having a few details filled in if they're up to it. I might be pissed if this was the last Mass Effect game evar, but it certainly won't be. There's going to be more and I'm going to love it so fuck getting mad about it.

Still having a fucking blast with multiplayer even if I suck eggs. I dipped my toe into Geth silver yesterday and held my own with my Salarian Engineer (fuck yeah Decoy), but it's so overwhelming compared to bronze.

Wait until you try Gold - brutes, banshees, ravagers and marauders on wave 2. Hacking task on wave 3 with even more brutes and banshees xD
But gold geth on the map I played this morning is easy - you camp on both sides of the map (up and down) and shoot everything as they slowly come to you. Engineer, asari adept and an infiltrator with snipe work really well together.

You should go play Reapers on Silver and finish it to get the special pack from the multiplayer weekend event.

I like my PS3; it works good. After a while you just learn to laugh at Sony constantly tripping over their own dick. At some point I will need to procure either a 360 or a proper PC to play ME1 though.

Just finished. This game reminded me why I hate cover systems like this. I just don't see why they are used at all. I'll take over a functioning jump over a neat animation any day. Combat seemed more fun though because it wasn't so easy to die compared to ME2. Sniper rifles were weak as fuck. My pistol ended up doing just as much damage which is stupid. The classes and skills were terrible as well. I was hoping they'd change that and make some useful skills. Story was pretty good; I at least cared for characters which never happens outside of FF games usually. Graphics somehow seemed worse. No idea how they managed that.

Were people disappointed that the endings were pretty much the same or disappointed in the ending itself? I got 2 of the options(military strength was almost maxed but readiness 50%, how the fuck was I supposed to know you need multi to get that higher?) and chose control. They should have added an option to do nothing imo. I think my ending was different too. Could have sworn the scene in the streets was darkness for me and the only colour was red from the reaper weapons. Going to run through again quickly tomorrow and check.

all of these rifles are amazingly powerfull, and the first one is nearly an assault rifle. That was my main gun with the slow motion from Infiltrator class.

I wonder how many of the people whining to get the ending changed are the same ones who complain when George Lucas updates the Star Wars films.

They really aren't though. My carnifax/paladin ended up doing just as much damage with the anti armour and damage mods, at half the weight. It was nice being able to pop heads when I needed to, but when it came to the tougher enemies which is primarily what I was using the sniper rifle for, there wee better alternatives.

Haha, seriously... that and video games are art. The ending was the way the people who designed/wrote the game intended it to be, whether the fans like that or not is kind of moot.

If the ending isn't the way they intended it to be then they fucked up and should admit to it.

maybe that's because a comment section on any site whatsoever will always invoke the most retarded comments you could possibly think of and actually writing to them makes the fucktards who are complaining will put a liiiiittle bit more effort into what they have to say.

    Bottomline, I hate humanity.

BioWare has been asking for fan input since DA:O was in development, so it doesn't surprise me that they take this shit seriously. One of the doctors put out a statement today basically saying they're not changing the ending but they'll tie up some loose ends, which I think is a respectable compromise.

I'm starting Act 2 now and absolutely loving it so far. The graphics were horrible in the first sequence on Earth but cleared up a lot and were looking great as soon as I got on the Normandy. As far as I can see the combat hasn't changed that much apart from they've added in a huge variety of enemies to shake things up. I still don't really like the weapon or armour system but its more involving than ME2 which had EA's hands all over it

Not necessarily. The first ME had a very in-depth customization system and in ME2 it got almost totally ripped out and became incredibly simplified. It didn't feel like a Bioware decision and EA definitely stamped some authority on the games (having multiplayer for example). Tbh I just hate EA so blaming them for everything is pretty straightforward

I've changed my mind on the ending stuff after i've seen the alternative ones. Some guys have pretty good arguments, and it's not about how it ends, it really sucks because all the work, all your choices don't have the smallest impact on how the story unfolds. War assets are totally useless....your choices related to any species, Rachni queens and shit like that have zero impact. All that work doesn't input at all....like
why do you save Tali's world if the Relays are gone...and nobody goes home

It seems very rushed from the moment you start the final part on the Citadel...and makes all that work and fighting during the last 3 games pretty useless.

Here's a good video about all the issues with the ending.

Don't click on this link if you didn't finish the game, although Bioware confirmed today that there will be changes made to wrap up the story better.

    http://angryjoeshow.com/2012/03/top-10-reasons-we-hate-mass-effect-3s-ending/

I'm not ok with Bioware changing the ending either, because it's their work.....but they really really disappointed me with this rushed up crap, after they worked so hard on 3 friking games.....it's like building a house and pissing on it when it's finished. Great house, but....

That's a bad analogy. It's more like building a house with all your friends, then choosing not to live in that house. Sure the aesthetic choices you made are now moot, but who cares? A house has been built. That's a fucking big accomplishment.

Are the great times spent with your friends building the house now erased from history? No.

Sometimes it's not where you end up, it's the journey. Cliche I know but it applies in this case.

I didnt actually read the article I just wanted to address the last part of your post.
