Wow is it just me or are the graphics VERY much improved?

Also, I hope that wasn't a lot of spoiler

Aside from saying the game goes back the Krogan planet I'm not sure it reveals much

GreenManGaming (GMG) has a coupon for 25% off of -every- preorder on their site. Just used it to get ME3 (normal edition) for 41$.
    https://twitter.com/#!/GreenManGaming/status/163968221643411456

If you do decide to sign up and purchase it from them (very cool site, some games can be traded back in for credit too) and spend more than 2$ you can get a bonus if you've signed up through a ref. link (both referral and the new sign up get 2$. Used to be 5$ but i guess they became too popular).

Also if you were a customer of Direct2Drive (which is now part of Gamefly) you should have a 30% coupon code in your mailbox that works with every game on Gamefly, even preorders. Downside is that ME3 is only available for US/Canada through them.

Origin = the reason we're not getting ME3 on Steam.

Some of you guys might find "spoilers" in the following link, so read the description before clicking and whining about it.

EA have some level of control, of course they will milk the franchise as much as possible

Well I don't know if anyone expected this franchise was going to die completely. Of course saving game files is a good idea, who knows, maybe they will make a game 300 years in the future and events from the ME games would have an influence.

Ya, just played it. Combat seems to be better. It's also cool that you can choose between playing the game as a pure action game, a role playing game or a story game with very light action.

Hmm. What would "very light" action be like? I'm assuming the role playing game allows you to have maximum story and maximum action?

pretty much. I suppose "very light" action meaning fewer and easier enemies. *shrugs*

Well I had a Best Buy giftcard left over from Christmas, so I went and preordered this shit today. Probably the last EA game I ever purchase.

I haven't played any of the Mass Effect games, but I'd have to play the first one on computer, should I skip it and just start on 2 or would I be missing some pretty righteous stuff?

IMO Mass Effect 1 >>>>> Mass Effect 2 (although they're both amazing).

I would suggest starting with ME1, then when you finish it, import your character into ME2. I did this in preparation for the 3rd game, and it's been an amazing, continuous experience.

I don't know if my Mac will run it. It only has a 2.3GHz processor, and the minimum spec is 2.4GHz.

ME1 felt a lot more like an RPG in all aspects of the game, the only flaws it had really were the crappy UI/inventory and the not so good combat (which for its time was still amazing).
ME2 dumbed down everything - the world, the RPG, it improved on combat and quicktime events. Story is less interesting as well.

ME1 had the better story by far.
ME2 had the better gameplay by far.

If I had to play them again, and I probably do, I'm looking forward to ME1 more. But I've played them both three times or so, and might do so again before I get ME3.

I love ME2, but it has a number of flaws not present in the first game:

    - game reduced from an RPG to a linear corridor shooter with chest-high walls, no sense of exploration
    - hacking mini-games are irritating after a while and feel more tacked-on than the first game
    - planet scanning for minerals is the most tedious thing in existence, especially on a second playthrough
    - game pacing/story is painfully predictable (recruit character -> loyalty mission -> repeat 8 times)

Having said all this, I enjoyed ME2 a LOT more on my 3rd playthrough when I actually imported my ME1 character. There were a number of scenes and characters in ME2 that I didn't encounter previously when I didn't do this, which was awesome.

I'm sure the game will be awesome but that CGI trailer was pretty lame. Just reminded me of Independence Day or Skyline or some shit.
