Coming out in November, according to IMdB They picked a lot of pretty visuals for the trailer. Seems like a tough book to bring to the screen. The book was .
If anything it'll probably be the most visually impressive film of the year. I'm always up for more Ang Lee.
It looks like a tear-jerker in one of those OMG LIFE IS SO BEAUTIFUL CAN'T YOU SEE IT kind of way that makes me hate myself when I fall for it.
I wouldn't make any special effort to get to it, especially if Ang Lee does the work of actually extracting the good parts for us. I personally couldn't stand Martel's writing style. The book won some big prizes and has tons of fans, but the ham-fisted religious lessons at the beginning had me cringing. But...people read, watch and love all kinds of crap, and most don't seem to have a problem with the way the words are put together in that book.
I hate religion and the overall message of the book, and yet I still loved reading it. This should be interesting. It's been a while since I've read it, but I'm somewhat perplexed by the trailer scenes of Patel forming some kind of touching bond with the tiger (given the, uh, ending).
