What a dramatic first week on the tour. More crashes than a season of F1, two great wins for Cav, debut wins for Farrar and Boassen-Hagen, Gilbert vs Roijas in green, Evans impressive, Hushovd very impressive, Voekler in yellow again (how long can he hold onto it this time?) and most importantly Contador over 4 minutes down on yellow! The GC could really go down to the wire this year.
See the car wiping out riders today? The guy flew through the air upside down into a barbed wire fence. Brutal.
the driver of that french tv car should be thrown out of a car into a barbed wire fence at 60 kph. Or at least charged with something and/or license suspended. And the guy that got decked and thrown into the barbed wire fence still managed to get the polka dot jersey. Notice the wheel through the post and him trying to cover his ass (there's another pic that's full-on butt cheek and looks like he got mauled by a lion). more than half of the GC contenders have crashed out now. Contador, Cadel, the Shleck bros, and maybe Basso are the only GC guys really left. I kind of want to see Contador get destroyed on the climbs. He's way too full of himself and needs to be humbled. Plus he was whining before le Tour about being tired from the Giro. The Schleck bros and Cadel both have a lead on him, and if they can at least keep most of their lead going into the individual time trial, they might have a chance.
To go another 35km after already doing over 150km over some mountains and getting hit by a car is some serious shit. Anyway I'm looking forward to the sprint finishes again. I know people don't like him, but watching Cavendish in the sprints is incredible. He is like the Terminator. I still think about that charge at the champs élysées last year. Hope he gets the green jersey.
good night, little bert and amazing ride by Voekler again, although it will be a slight miracle if he keeps the yellow jersey to Paris and actually becomes the latest frenchman to win the tour of france in 25 years. He's definitely no Bernard Hinault. my monies are on Cadel and the Schleck bros battling for the top 3 spots. Cadel is the best time trialist out of the three, but who knows if he can make up a minute plus. Andy lost the tour last year by barely 30 seconds, but he might be better this year. Shit's gonna blow up even more tomorrow on the Alpe d' Huez.
If Andy can do the same thing tomorrow or something like it on the Alpe d'Heuz at the end, he'll win it. Evans will only be able to make up a minute or two max on the TT, even if Schleck does an average one (he went suprisingly well last year). To be honest, I just love watching any Alpe d'Heuz stage. 20 odd percent, 20 odd switch-backs, hundreds of thousands of supporters.
