Wow man, that sucks. I play my kit EVERY DAY unless I'm out of town. I can't imagine it any other way.
i can't stand electronic kits. the pearl kit lani bought me is set up as a really mobile little jazz kit, i wouldn't think about going anyplace that wouldnt let me set it up somehow. check your pms jcb.
Currently downloading. Electronic kits don't do it for me. I, myself, would like to put together a smaller jazz kit with an 18" bass.
my little kit is a 22" normal size kick, with a 12" rack and a 16" floor. i use 2 crashes and a ride on it, i love playing on it. i feel alot more maneuvability on it than my big kit, but i'd play on my big kit for versatility any day of the week.
i don't mind my electric kit, but yeah, it definitely doesn't compare in any way whatsoever, but i'd rather play that than nothing. i used to have a pretty big kit, but now i just use a 22" bass either a 10 or 12" rack tom, a 16" floor tom, a crash, a ride and a splash, but the stuff i'm playing atm sounds pretty good with a china so i sometimes use that, pity all of the kits i play atm are someone elses apart from snare and cymbals... also, i agree that jcb should check his pms, he sounded a bit moody in his last post
It sounds great. You haven't heard it since I tuned it. I'm bringing it on the road this weekend. That is if Brooks remembers to bring his 12" case. PLEASE pester him about that. I don't want that drum getting messed up this soon.
Is your double pedal an Iron Cobra or an Iron Cobra Jr.? I got mine secondhand and a gift, and I'm not entirely sure which one I have. It doesn't say "Jr." on it.
the pearl demon drive pedals look absolutely amazing. i played them at a GC once, they're incredibly comfortable and I wasn't even able to switch them into longboards.
i used to care about pedals, but these days i prefer the non expensive pedals. i really like the one that came with my sonor force series kit. and i really like all the same level ones from premier and yamaha in particular.
if you play double pedals on a single bass kit then you kind of have to care, cheap pedals have the worst slave drives ever. single pedals, yeah anything will do pretty much.
I actually liked the pedal that came with my sonor force kit too. It's a pretty nice stock pedal. I gave it away though to a friend in need, but I wasn't using it anyway because I already had an iron cobra double pedal.
That's why I bought my Eliminator. A friend of mine had a cheapo Dixon pedal that I tried out a few times. The main pedal felt alright, but the slave was TERRIBLE. I'd like to try out that Demon Drive pedal sometime. I've enjoyed direct drive pedals every time I've used one. My drum instructor uses an old Axis pedal and it feels great.
I've decided to setup one of my kits much like Travis Orbin's, because I really want to learn an open-kit type setup and work on opposite hand polyrhythms, and because i have the spare stuff to do this.
the chat that all the cool dudes are in. Click IRC on the top bar or links. Or download mIRC or something.
i'm finally getting to use my kit today, so i'll get some pics, might not be bothered to set it all up though.
yep, here are some pics of a very stripped down version, just becuase we had limited time, and it was just a practice in my living room, we've got another one tomorrow, so i might set it up properly, it worked well enough though.
i think it's beautiful, it was a toss up between that and a green sparkly thing, i think i definitely made the right choice
