I defend Islam because I'm not a sheltered bigoted faggot. I grew up with a lot of Palestinian-Americans and none of them were "stuck in the dark ages." The women didn't wear veils, they did well in school, they held progressive ideals and still considered themselves Muslims. it's just a rough amalgamation of population statistics. outside of fundementalist strongholds like Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan and Great Britain, most Muslim women do not cover their faces. That leaves Idonesia, Iran, Egypt, Lebanon etc etc. Most women will wear a scarf, but that's not a veil.
